Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) in consultation with the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission (GWIC)¸ will from today implement a cap of 10 races per meeting, in order to maintain the stringent biosecurity controls.

The new measures will come into effect for all race meetings drawn from today, at all venues.

GRNSW and GWIC will continue to work on the race programming and provide advice on this as soon as possible.

Since the new racing schedule was put in place last Tuesday, to fight against the spread of COVID-19, GWIC and GRNSW have been continually reviewing the race day protocols around the kennelling and racing of greyhounds, to adhere to the measures previously communicated to industry.

After further consideration, and given the resource intensive approach of the process, after consultation between GRNSW racing officials, GWIC staff, and also Race Club staff, the decision was made to put the 10-race limit on race meetings.

It is paramount these measures be introduced to ensure compliance with community and government expectations.

We thank industry for its patience with regards to these matters, and as we have stated from the commencement of the new racing schedule, the program and venue choices are constantly being reviewed.
