The Dubbo and Temora Clubs will undertake a pilot program to reduce the time between kenneling and the first race during December 2024 and January 2025.
The trial will evaluate the capacity to decrease the gap to 30 minutes, which will benefit greyhounds and participants in the warmer months.
Stewards' trials will still be available through the pilot, with participants needing to ensure they have sufficient assistance coordinated, where required, to meet the time available. Standard request for a Stewards' trial process via GWIC will apply. Runners undertaking Stewards' trials will be required to be at kennels at least five (5) minutes prior to closing time for weigh in and identification.
With the reduction in time, Stewards will enforce presentation to kenneling times to ensure smooth racing operations. Therefore, participants are strongly encouraged to ensure they leave sufficient travel time and in event of difficulties during transit participants should call ahead to the appropriate Race Day Office; Dubbo 02 68842571 and Temora 02 69771950.
All meetings at Dubbo and Temora between December 1, 2024 and January 31, 2025 (inclusive) will have kennels open 75 minutes before the first race, and close 30 minutes prior to the advertised starting time of race 1. Any trials will be conducted in the gap, with trainers and/or handlers engaged in Race 1 having to be at the kennels 15 minutes out from race start time.
The first meeting to have the 30 minute gap apply is Temora on Wednesday, December 4, with nominations closing Monday, December 2.
