Overflow Jill was unlucky not to be in last week's Group One Ladbrokes National Futurity final but gets a golden opportunity to notch her sixth win in 10 Wentworth Park starts on Saturday night.
Overflow Jill will exit box one for the first time in 16 races when she wears the red rug in the Luke Ogle's Dagg & Hackett Blitz Stakes, a top grade 520m event.
"I thought she should have been in the Futurity final because in her heat she was bumped by the eventual winner Zipping Teresa when they were disputing the lead at the first turn and wound up third, just missing a place in the big one,'' trainer Craig Chappelow said.
"Overflow Jill picked up a consolation win when she won a fifth grade last Saturday but I'm not sure how she will go from box one.
"I don't think she is well boxed as you would imagine because she has won only once in three races from box two.
"But Overflow Jill is going well and although she only clocked 30.06 when she won last Saturday at Wentworth Park she got onto the heels of the pacemaker Fascinate Trump on two occasions.''
Although Overflow Jill faces a steep rise in grade on Saturday she should have no trouble outpacing Zipping Remus and Energizer Miss, in boxes two and three respectively, in the charge to the first turn.
Fascinate Mel will boost her earnings to over $153,500 if she takes out Saturday night's City Racing @ Gosford Feb 3 Stakes, a 520m fourth and fifth grade.
Fascinate Mel has drawn box one again after coming from that alley when second all the way behind Spring Honour in a similar race at Wentworth Park last Saturday.
But trainer Noelene Holloway believes Fascinate Mel is set to bounce back into the winner's circle at Wentworth Park for the first time since December 9.
"I think she will go a bit better than she did last Saturday at Wenty when she ran second,'' Holloway said.
"I don't know why but she is just feeling better this week and her luck's in because she has got box one again.''
The scratching of main danger Trunkey Chief gives last start scorching 29.39 Wentworth Park winner Zipping Optimise a "walk up start" in Saturday's Ladbrokes Bet Ticker Dogs Only Final, 520m.
Trunkey Chief had drawn his favourite box, number one, but a disappointed trainer Tony Godden said: "He had a sore wrist after his second in his heat on January 19 so won't be starting.''
After Zipping Optimise led throughout from box one for his sizzling January 19 heat win trainer Jason Magri said: "I'm not getting carried away with him yet, I want to see him do that from box eight.''
While Zipping Optimise has not had box eight in 11 starts, he has won three of his six assignments while sporting the black box seven rug.
Saturday's best bet should be Hurricane Reign, who was sensationally backed from $8.50 to $2.50 favouritism when second in Gets Late Early's Group One National Futurity final at Wentworth Park last Saturday.
Hurricane Reign would have finished much closer had she not dwelt at the start because she possesses dazzling early pace and is capable of clocking 5.30 to 5.35 first splits at Wentworth Park.
She should only need to step away cleanly to lead all the way in Saturday's NSW GBOTA Welcome Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.
Angel Shirley was a beaten $2.40 favourite at her Wentworth Park debut on January 19 but should make amends in Saturday's 520m Ladbrokes Mega Multi Bitches Only Final.
Before last week's race, Angel Shirley had gone well in two solo post-to-post hand-slips but the experience of coming out of the 520m boxes in her heat should make the difference in the final.
In her heat, Angel Shirley was drawn outside the winner and runner-up Rock It Reta and First Lady and chased them all the way.
But in the final Angel Shirley has box three, with Rock It Reta and First Lady not as well positioned in boxes five and seven respectively.
