Emergency greyhound welfare support for GRNSW participants
The GRNSW Participant Assistance Service provides support to greyhound racing participants who are unable to meet their greyhound welfare obligations due to exceptional circumstances.
The service may assist with care, placement or temporary boarding arrangements where greyhound welfare is directly at risk.
The service is delivered by the GRNSW Participant Welfare Officer and operates Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
The service phone is monitored outside these hours for emergencies involving immediate risk to greyhound welfare.
If there is immediate danger to people or animals, call Triple Zero (000).
Who can access the Participant Assistance Service?
The Participant Assistance Service is available for exceptional circumstances that directly prevent a participant from meeting their greyhound welfare obligations.
This may include:
a medical condition affecting the participant or an immediate household member
a crisis compromising safety, access or the ability to provide care
a natural disaster impacting kennels or property, such as fire, flood or storm damage
Eligible circumstances may warrant:
priority access to GAP placement, subject to capacity
The Participant Assistance Service is not available for matters involving:
planning failures or convenience-based requests
interpersonal, commercial or contractual disputes
situations more appropriately managed through regulatory or enforcement pathways
