Zipping Duvall clocked a flying 29.73 in finishing second at Wentworth Park on Saturday night and Minnie Finn is optimistic about his chances when the promising youngster makes his Richmond debut on Wednesday in the 520m Ladbrokes Blackbook Stakes.
This is for greyhounds with one or two wins and although Zipping Duvall's two races have resulted in a win and a second at Wentworth Park, Finn said: "He has been trialled at Richmond and he goes as well there as he does at Wentworth Park.''
Finn trains Great Flash for fellow trainer Noelene Holloway and she is happy to see that dog in box eight in Wednesday night's Ladbrokes Communities Stakes, a 401m fourth and 5fifth grade sprint.
"Great Flash is perfectly boxed, he loves it out there and he really likes going over this trip at Richmond, '' Finn said.
Last week Great Flash exited box seven and led all the way to defeat the outstanding speedster Daintree Idol, who has recorded a scorching 29.56 over 520m at Wentworth Park.
Might Have Been stunned Wentworth Park racegoers on Saturday night when he led throughout to win over 520m in 29.34, far and away his fastest time at headquarters and clearly the best of the night.
Might Have Been has box seven in Wednesday's third heat of the 622m GRNSW Middle Distance Series where he is opposed to Zipping Chaplin, trained by Finn's daughter-in-law Courtney Barnes.
"Last Saturday I didn't expect Might Have Been to go quite as fast as he did but I had thought he would be hard to beat,'' Finn said.
"Might Have Been is well drawn in box seven on Wednesday and while Courtney's greyhound Zipping Chaplin has won his past four starts, I believe Might Have Been is likely to be the pacemaker.
"And although Zipping Chaplin is strong I don't think he could run down Might Have Been.''
Finn could also win with Ain't Waiting, a member of her outstanding Flying Ricciardo-Poco Dorado litter which includes Might Have Been and Wentworth Park group one classic winner Gets Late Early.
Finn said: "Ain't Waiting is probably the slowest in the litter but she is going pretty good and looks a good chance in Wednesday's eighth race, a 520m fourth and fifth grade,'' Finn said.
Hardest for Ain't Waiting to beat could be the Andrew Bell-trained Molly On Fire, who has box seven.
"That wide draw is far from ideal but Molly On Fire is down in class quite a bit,'' Bell said.
"She has had a win and a third in tougher races at Wentworth Park at her past two starts and has clocked 29.85 at Wenty.''
Finn's sister Patricia Chaker's dog Wrench will have only his third race after a six months spell when he exits box one in Wednesday's Ladbrokes Easy Form Stakes, 520m.
Wrench's personal best Richmond figures of 29.93 are clearly the best of Wednesday's lineup and Chaker said: "He is ideally drawn.
"Wrench is named after Bryan Wrench, a famous Sydney solicitor, and he has a photograph of my greyhound's win at Richmond last November hanging up in his office.
"I gave Wrench all that time off because he is a big lump of a dog and needed to mature but he has come back really well.''
Trainer Jack Lowe concedes Zipping Jolie was disappointing when she finished third from box one at Richmond on June 5 but was heartened by her determined win, from box three, at the Londonderry course last week.
"She found trouble from box eight at Richmond on May 15 and that put a dent in her confidence,'' Lowe said.
