Questionable has been placed in three of her four Wentworth Park appearances but trainer Chris O'Brien believes she can break through for a win there on Thursday night.

Questionable has box six in the Ladbrokes Racing Club one win fifth grade over 520m after opening her account with a sizzling 29.52 win over the same distance at Nowra on December 2.

An unexpected error occurred.

After disputing the early lead, Questionable careered away to win by nine lengths, running home in 12.65, outstanding figures for a maiden at Nowra.

"She went super at Nowra, showing good early speed and then going to the line strongly,'' O'Brien said.

Thursday's race looks a match between Questionable and Spring Laver, who has box one after finishing third, from box four, in the Maitland Future Stars final on December 6.

Scott Board, trainer of Spring Laver said: "He has been runner-up in two of his three Wentworth Park starts but in five races he has not drawn closer to the fence than box four.

"So he is certainly well positioned in box one and while his best Wentworth Park time is 30.07 I think he is capable of getting down to 29.85 or 29.90 there.

"My only concern is he could be a run short as he is coming back to 520m after winning his Future Stars heat and then finishing third in the final, with both those races being over only 400m.''

Questionable's litter sister and kennelmate Telling impressed with an all-the-way win from box one at Wentworth Park last Thursday night but trainer Chris O'Brien thinks she will be able to handle box six in this week's Ladbrokes Bet Ticker Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

An unexpected error occurred.

"She clocked 29.76 in her win last week and I think she is capable of some improvement,'' O'Brien said.

"And while Telling was ideally drawn in box one last Thursday, I believe she is capable of handling a wide draw.

"She was a good third from box eight at her first Wentworth Park race on November 30 and I'll be very surprised if she wants to crash towards the rails on Thursday.

"So it all depends on how she gets away, although so far she has been a reliable beginner.''

The start could also decide the winner of Thursday's Ladbrokes Hosted Pots Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Honk Honk, who could not have been more impressive than she was on Saturday night when she led throughout to win by 15 lengths at her Wentworth Park debut, has box one.

Honk Honk covered the 520m in 29.66 while her main rival on Thursday, Make Them Cry, recorded identical figures after leading all the way from box four last week.

Hera (box two) and Invitations Only (box three) can show good early zip so could "run cover" for Honk Honk, but trainer Tony Mason is wary of box one at Wenty.

An unexpected error occurred.

Mason said: "A lot of dogs can miss the kick from the rails at Wentworth Park so I would have preferred her in box two or three.

"But Honk Honk should be capable of improvement because last week she was having her first run out of the 520m boxes at Wenty.

"Although she has early pace I'm even more impressed by her run home times, everywhere she has gone she gives an indication she will get a middle distance, or maybe even stay, later in her career.''

Best bet on Thursday should be Black Myth Wave, who has won six of nine starts by showing dazzling early speed and who reeled off a first split of 5.39 when leading all the way from box seven at Wentworth Park on November 30.

Black Myth Wave, trained by Vic Sultana for Vincent Sun, has box one in the Christmas G1 Racing Dec 21 Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

The dog looks to have inherited the box speed of his dam Sky Wave, who won 29 of 49 races for the same owner and trainer.

An unexpected error occurred.
