The clash of up-and-coming 23 month old stayers Late Night News and I'm Sally looks set to provide a thrilling highlight to Saturday night's Wentworth Park card.

Late Night News will exit box four and I'm Sally box five in the The Lids Fly On Ladbrokes Live Stakes, a non-graded 720m event.

Late Night News made a stunning 720m debut when she ran down group one winner Ritza Piper in a slick 41.72 at Wentworth Park on December 14 and a week later had to pull out all stops to edge out Bandit Daryl, one of his rivals on Saturday night, over the same course in 41.92.

I'm Sally had not seen Wentworth Park and was untried over 720m when she led throughout for a nine lengths winning romp on November 28 in 42.28.

Rod McDonald, whose wife Rebecca Edenborough owns and trains the greyhound, said: "I'm Sally picked up a little niggling injury in that race and while she has not raced for a month she is ready to go on Saturday night.

"Rebecca has given I'm Sally two trials at Temora in the past couple of weeks and she has gone faster than she did before she won first-up at Wenty.''

Caroline Hughes, trainer of Late Night News, said: "I wasn't surprised my dog did not go as fast in his second win as he did at his first go because that is often the case with dogs backing up quickly over 720m.

"Saturday night will be his third crack at 720m so he should be getting the hang of long distance racing by now.

"But I was very impressed by I'm Sally's win last month so am not taking anything for granted.''

Hughes has her Muswellbrook Cup winner West Rock Casey, a litter brother to Late Night News, in Saturday's Ladbrokes Sports Bar Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

"West Rock Casey took a bit off his pad when he won the Cup on December 15 so will go into this race nice and fresh,'' Hughes said.

"But he is fit enough because I have been trialling him up the straight on the grass and he is perfectly drawn in box eight on Saturday.

"He will need to do everything right to beat Kerry Drynan's dog Brooklyn Brute, who has won five races at Wentworth Park and will be suited by Saturday's small field.''

Still Available made the pace when beaten into second place by noted strong finisher Cawbourne Apollo at Wentworth Park last Saturday and trainer Garry Coles believes his dog will strip fitter in this week's The J-Slice Caribbean Chase Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Still Available looks ideally placed in box one as Great Flash, box two, is a wide runner.

Coles said: "When Still Available got beaten last week he could have been short of a run.

"He had not been over 520m in more than a month due to splitting the webbing on a foot a couple of times.

"Still Available got away well last Saturday and I have continued to give him box practice at home to keep him sharpened up for this week.''

Saturday's best bet should be Happy Bandit, who is well positioned in box two in the Ladbrokes Blackbook Stakes, a 520m 1-4 wins fifth grade.

With a personal best Wentworth Park 520m time of 29.67, Happy Bandit is the only greyhound to have broken 30sec and with three wins and seven placings at headquarters has easily the best strike rate on the track.

Zipping Chaplin lacks box speed but should come home too strongly for his rivals in the Ladbrokes Hosted Pots Stakes, Saturday's top grade 520m event.

He has box four but will relish the small field and has finished ahead of Sammy Ethan, his main rival on Saturday night, in each of their past two meetings.
