Peloponnese (pictured) was beaten eight lengths into sixth position in last week's group one Ladbrokes National Futurity final but she is a true "box one bandit" who will relish the drop in class and perfect draw in Saturday night's 520m fifth grade Happy Australia Day Stakes.
After drawing box one and chasing home final winner Laura Keeping in her heat of the Futurity, Peloponnese had box seven in the final and was well back throughout.
An unexpected error occurred.
Peloponnese has registered four wins and two placings in six appearances wearing the red rug so it's no surprise trainer Jodie Lord's husband Andy said: "She needs an inside box badly.
"She had a horror draw in the Futurity final and was probably never going to be able to win that from box seven, but she pulled up well after that race so is ready to go on Saturday night.''
Jodie Lord has the favoured runners in Saturday night's 720m Ladbrokes Bet Ticker Stakes, comprising littermates King Tide (box eight) and Law Book (box five).
An unexpected error occurred.
Law Book has clocked a smart 41.80 over the Wentworth Park 720m trip while King Tide's best time is 41.97.
"King Tide is going great, but he can't draw a box and has eight, the same alley he had when second to Late Night News in last week's Summer Distance Plate final.''
King Tide
Dinali Keroma has not raced at Wentworth Park since May last year but Ray Pitstock, whose wife Susan trains the dog, says "he is going better than ever" in preparation for his return to headquarters in Saturday's Where Else But Wenty Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.
"Dinali Keroma has had three wins and two placings from his past five starts at Gosford since Susan sorted out a couple of problems the dog had,'' Ray Pitstock said.
"She seems to have him jumping better than ever so providing nothing runs out and checks him at the first turn, Dinali Keroma should have a good chance on Saturday.''
An unexpected error occurred.
Dinali Keroma has a fine record wearing the pink rug, having had two wins and a placing from three appearances exiting box eight.
Wild Octane has had a win at Ladbrokes Gardens and two placings at Wentworth Park since being purchased by owner-trainer Noelene Holloway and she gives him a great chance of breaking through at headquarters for her in Saturday night's Ladbrokes Sports Bar Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.
An unexpected error occurred.
Wild Octane has box five but should get a clear run to the first bend as Stan's Dream, who has box four, usually begins well but crosses to the rails.
Holloway said: "Before Wild Octane finished third to Crazed at Wentworth Park last Saturday I gave him a post-to-post trial at The Gardens and he went exceptionally well.
"He clocked 24.29 which the experts say is equivalent to a 29.40 time from the boxes over the full 515m.
"When I got the chance to buy Wild Octane in December I didn't hesitate because while he turns four in November, he could become a valuable dog for Masters races.
"And as he won over 600m at The Gardens for me on December 28 there are plenty of opportunities for him in middle distance events later this year.''
Deadly Class was sent to Sydney trainer Mark Gatt by his Victorian owners to contest Masters races last year but the dog has proven a revelation against all comers, scoring four wins and five placings from 11 Wentworth Park outings.
His Wentworth Park times include blistering 29.38 and 29.47 efforts and he should add to his tally after drawing perfectly in box one in Saturday's Sponsor a Race @ Wenty fourth and fifth grade over 520m.
