Star NSW sprinter Good Odds Cobber has edged out Vincent Bale in a thrilling finish to the Group 1 Gold Bullion (520m) at Albion Park on Thursday night.
Booking a direct passage into the Gold Bullion decider with victory in the Group 2 Golden Ticket a fortnight ago, NSW-trained Good Odds Cobber made full use of the final berth and box one draw, staving off Victorian Vincent Bale over the concluding stages to score by a half-head in 29.67 and secure a second career Group 1.

Good Odds Cobber's Gold Bullion success came just a few hours after the NSW star was announced as one of the four finalists for the coveted NSW GOTY of the Year award following a sensational 2024 racing year which included three group race successes.
And in landing the $250,000-to-the-winner Gold Bullion, the Frank and Tracey Hurst-trained son of Fernando Bale has launched 2025 in blazing fashion also, continuing his first rate Albion Park form which includes a third placed finish in last year's Group 1 Brisbane Cup.
"He's just a warrior this dog, we couldn't be prouder of him," Frank Hurst beamed.
"Since he's returned from a few issues late last year he's come back as good and as strong as ever. You saw how he pulled out all stops to win. He's got the heart of a lion, this dog."
While all the plaudits were with the winner, the effort of the runner-up Vincent Bale to get so close on the line was full of merit.
His time to shine at Group 1 level isn't too far away.
Finishing third, and also courageous in defeat, was Queensland Derby hero Spirit Boy for Craig Gardoll.
Meanwhile earlier in the program, star Victorian stayer Ethanol Water landed the Group 1 Gold Cup (720m) in all-the-way style for premier trainer Tom Dailly.
Securing a second career Group 1, Ethanol Water staved off late challenges from Black Silencer and Late Night News to claim the $100,000 first prize on the offing for the staying showpiece.
