Big Town Mac bungled the start when sent out a $2.50 favourite at Wentworth Park last Saturday night but only has to begin cleanly to make amends and break 30sec this Saturday night.

An unexpected error occurred.

Big Town Mac is ideally placed in box one in the Ladbrokes Mates Mode Stakes, a 520m fifth grade, and trainer Trevor Robinson said: "He can miss the kick sometimes but last week he was checked soon after the start as well.

"He clocked his best Wentworth Park time of 29.89 when he had box one last July and is going as well, if not better, now.

"When Big Town Mac won over 520m at Richmond on January 17 he ran 29.65, his fastest time on that track, so with a clean getaway he is capable of getting down close to 29.50 on Saturday.

"He is very strong and if he can get to the front early they won't run him down.''

Nowra trainer Allan Manwaring has litter brothers Ashby Doha and Archie Luxe opposing each other in Saturday's Ladbrokes Sports Bar Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

An unexpected error occurred.

"Ashby Doha has drawn seven and Archie Luxe eight and they are both suitably drawn, their whole litter prefers wide boxes,'' Manwaring said.

"Archie Luxe is especially well drawn but he is too slow early, he is really a middle distance dog.

"So Ashby Doha is our best chance, he is a quicker dog and has more early zip than his brother.

"Ashby Doha gets his chance although it depends on whether Salim Shady, who has box four, brings his outstanding Bulli form to Wenty.''

Jason Magri, whose brother Ray trains Salim Shady, is confident that greyhound can run well at Wentworth Park.

"When he ran fifth there last week he tripped over at the start and then another dog cut him in half,'' Jason Magri said.

"But Salim Shady has trialled well at Wentworth Park and will handle the track capably.''

Jason Magri trained over 180 winners in 2024 and has several prospects again on Saturday night.

He has Speedy Pie in box six in race one, Allan Keeping in four in race seven, the unbeaten Zipping Papalii in eight in race eight and Zipping Evania in box two in race 11.

"Allan Keeping is capable of leading early providing he can come out a little better than he did when he won at Wentworth Park last week,'' Magri said.

"I'm not sure if Zipping Papalii has enough speed to get across from box eight but she is obviously going great.

"I liked Zipping Evania's first up third at Wentworth Park last week because she had not previously been over 520m.

"She is well drawn but while she is not as strong as some of her littermates she has more early pace.''
