Here We Go At Wenty

If Here We Go brings his Ladbrokes Gardens form to Wentworth Park on Saturday night only bad luck can stop him from scoring his first city win in five attempts.

Here We Go has box five in the Ladbrokes Sports Bar Stakes, a 520m fifth grade, and veteran trainer Ken Wood, whose wife Beverley trains the greyhound, said: "He won at The Gardens on February 15 he recorded time that was only .26sec outside the 515m track record."

An unexpected error occurred.

"He won by nine lengths and clocked 29.22 so I estimate that if Here We Go can lead on Saturday, like he did at The Gardens, he can get down to 29.60 or 29.70.

"We have had some smart dogs over the last 45 years but Here We Go is the fastest we have put around The Gardens.

"He can produce a first split of 4.98 or 4.99 there and that is flying but last week at Wentworth Park he did not jump as well as he can and then found trouble trying to reach the inside.

"His box manners have been improving and all he needs on Saturday is an ounce of luck, like being able to find the fence easily.

"Here We Go rails so well he practically gets grease from the rail on his ear.''

Ferrero Girl, who has registered a win and two seconds in four Wentworth Park appearances since being purchased by Mick Vella and entering the kennels of Preston Rowles, looks hard to beat in Saturday's Ladbrokes Mates Mode Pots Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

An unexpected error occurred.

When Ferrero Girl led all the way to beat subsequent Wenty winner My Athena on February 6 she ran a smart first section of 5.47 and covered the 520m in 29.99.

Trainer Preston Rowles said: "I think she is capable of getting down to 29.90 if she jumps like she can.

"Ferrero Girl has the pace to be able to do a 5.45 first split and that should be good enough for her to be the pacemaker from her ideal box one draw on Saturday night.

"She baulked slightly at the start when she finished fourth to Taormina in a slightly harder race at Wentworth Park last Saturday night but is usually a reliable beginner.

"This week's race is suitable although Peter Rodgers' dog Classic Ethics, who won in 29.95 at Wentworth Park on February 20, could be a danger.''

However Classic Ethics had box one when he won and is out in box seven on Saturday.

Dam Slithery is the only greyhound in Saturday night's 520m fifth grade Ladbrokes Wentworth Park Battlers Stakes to have won twice on the track and she gets her chance to win again after drawing box one.

An unexpected error occurred.

She has had four wins and two placings from eight starts wearing the red rug and trainer Andrew Katalinic is quietly confident.

"Dam Slithery will go into this race nice and fresh but that won't affect her because she has been hitting the line hard at Wenty.

"Box one at Wentworth Park can be a bit tricky but while she is capable of leading, she can come from second or even third on the back straight and win.

"I nominated her for a Battlers' race last time at Wentworth Park but that didn't eventuate so she is definitely down in grade now.''

Good Odds Cobber begins his Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg campaign on Saturday night when he contests the Simply Limelight @ Stud top grade 520m event.

An unexpected error occurred.

Good Odds Cobber has earned over $768,000 but the prolific big race winner was bundled out of the Ladbrokes Richmond Derby series when he finished fourth, from box eight, in his heat on February 21.

Although he has won eight races from box eight, Good Odds Cobber dwelt at the start at Richmond and after being trapped wide all the way, was badly hampered when making up ground on the home turn.

The outside position on Saturday appears to have done him no favours, as wide runners From The East and Minh Alfie have drawn boxes six and seven respectively.

Good Odds Cobber will need to nail the start as the box positions favour Midnight Spritz and Sammy Ethan, who have drawn one and three respectively.

Midnight Spritz notched her 14th Wentworth Park win when she led throughout in 29.65 on February 20 while Sammy Ethan landed his 16th race at headquarters when he won in 29.81 on February 6.
