He may not have the resume of final favourite Good Odds Cobber, but if the heats of the Ladbrokes Temora Cup are anything to go by, Unleash In Miami has a similar motor to his Group 1 winning adversary.

The Peter Sims-prepared runner caused a mini boilover last Sunday when he flew the lids and took care of ‘Cobber’ and the prodigiously talented Joey The Jet, among others, to claim a deserved 25.64 heat victory in the State’s south.

But with $40,000 and a Group 3 title on the line this weekend, Peter Sims believes Box 2 could work against his charge in the decider.

“I’d rather see him drawn wide because he’s not super reliable and he can still miss it…plus he’ll want to go up the track the bit which will give ‘Cobber’ a great run,” Sims said.

“He’s really a pink dog [suited by Box 8] so drawing inside isn’t great but if he can see daylight, he’ll accelerate and his second split is phenomenal. He’s a lethal trial dog but he doesn’t always race accordingly.”

“In his first look at Wenty [Park] he went 13.55 to the second mark, 17.59 to the back and 29.53 in total. He’s got a big motor but I still think Good Odds Cobber and Power And Glory are the dogs to beat on Sunday.”

An unexpected error occurred.

Unleash In Miami has been a revelation since arriving in NSW back in December, with nine starts resulting in six wins and three minor placings.

One of which was a podium position in the Group 2 Bulli Gold Cup behind Good Odds Cobber and Chief Lightning a month ago.

“My bloke came out a fraction behind the leaders but then he accelerated around the bend and pretty much found the front,” Sims recalled.

“Once they straightened, he got pushed a bit wide and even though he looked like he was right there, the effort to go around them told late and he couldn’t quite finish it off.”

The son of Kc And All x She’s Got Wheels astutely acquired by Garry Block after running seventh in the Group 2 Bendigo Cup final master mentor, Kel Greenough.

“He was in Melbourne and we had our eye on him for a while. Things didn’t go his way in the Bendigo cup final so we purchased him after that run,” Sims added.

“Garry is from Temora and we’ve got a few other dogs together like Scutinise and Precarious. Precarious was in the National Derby heats but dropped a back muscle but he’ll be back good as gold soon enough.”

Unleash In Miami cherry ripe for another feature final this Sunday before connections turn their attention to a tilt at the Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg.

Sims then hoping to embark on a campaign in the North of the state through the Winter months.

“I guarantee you, he’s a better two turn dog despite a lot of his racing being on U-turn tracks…and if he draws the eight box up here, you’ll see a totally different dog again,” Sims said.

“He’ll most likely go back to Wenty for the Egg but then I want to step him back in trip and target the Thunderbolt (350m) and the Cup (450m) at Grafton.”

The Group 3 Ladbrokes Temora Cup final will be run on Sunday, March 16.
