Tomorrow's The Day For Wendy

Tomorrow Wendy has landed a length in front to win each of her past three races, but Joe Scerri's brilliant front runner faces a stern threat from powerful finisher Flash On By in heat 10 of the Ausure Ultra Sense at Wentworth Park on Sunday.

An unexpected error occurred.

The draw matters little to Tomorrow Wendy because so far her foolproof box manners have resulted in a hat-trick of wins in March at Dapto and Wentworth Park from boxes two and seven.

But when she won at her Wentworth Park debut on March 27, Tomorrow Wendy was fading in the run home, and that is where Flash On By will be doing his best work.

Flash On By has had just a single win from eight Wentworth Park appearances, but he has clocked 29.82 from box one, so trainer Jack Smith is pleased with his box two draw on Sunday.

"He hasn't got a lot of speed and when he gets a check, Flash On By nearly falls over, he seems to exaggerate everything,'' Smith said.

"But I'm confident he will run a good race on Sunday because while he is probably looking for further than 520m, the problem is finding middle distance events for a dog like him.''

Vista Yttrium's extraordinary run of unsuitable draws continues at Wentworth Park on Sunday when Jay Opetaia's greyhound exits box eight for the fifth time in 10 appearances with his trainer.

An unexpected error occurred.

Opetaia has a high opinion of Vista Yttrium, who has clocked a sizzling 29.46 at Wentworth Park, and the dog looks well placed in heat four of Sunday's Ausure Ultra Sense.

He thought so highly of Vista Yttrium that he entered the dog for the Group One Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg heats, but as he jumped from box eight, Opetaia's greyhound went down on his nose and nearly fell.

"I think he actually jumped okay, but then slipped on the mat in front of the boxes and lost all chance,'' Opetaia said.

"I'm disappointed he has box eight again because if he had drawn the rails, I'd be very confident of him winning.

"Vista Yttrium will need luck from his wide draw, but if he finds the front at any stage, I think he will put them away.''

Most intriguing Ausure Ultra Sense clash comes in heat five with the Minnie Finn-trained Zipping Dekkers ideally drawn in box one and Peter Lagogiane's Make Them Cry in box five.

An unexpected error occurred.

Finn has a big opinion of Zipping Dekkers, and while Make Them Cry's best recent form has been over longer distances than 520m, trainer Peter Lagogiane believes she will go well.

After winning two 603m races at Gosford in January, Lagogiane freshened up Make Them Cry and she won over 515m at Ladbrokes Gardens on March 29 in a smart 29.68.

"I've kept her very fresh since that win and if she happens to find the front on Thursday, Make Them Cry will run smart time,'' Lagogiane said.

Make Them Cry boasts a personal best Wentworth Park time of 29.55 but those figures were recorded after she had come from box one.

Trainer Mick Hardman believes Aussie's Thunder, one of his dog Zipping Cruise's rivals in heat one of the Ausure Ultra Sense, holds the key to the race.

An unexpected error occurred.

Zipping Cruise has box seven with likely favourite Zipping Kristoff in five, but Hardman said: "Aussie's Thunder, who has box four, has very good early pace and he usually wants to move up the track.

"So the chances of my dog and of Zipping Kristoff depend on what sort of run they get to the first turn.''

Best bet on Sunday should be the Frank Hurst-trained Good Odds Rocky, who is perfectly positioned in box one in heat eight of the Ausure Ultra Sense.

An unexpected error occurred.

Good Odds Rocky has won two of his past three Wentworth Park outings from boxes five and two and with Tracker, who uses a bit of the track drawn in two, he should get a clear passage in the charge to the first corner.
