Sweet Victory Awaits

I'm Sweet has had just three races over 350m and 440m, but a slick trial at Wentworth Park with an outstanding run home time has trainer Mick Hardman convinced she is ready to win over 520m there on Friday night.

I'm Sweet has box one in the Sponsor a Race @ Wenty Stakes, a single win fifth grade, and is coming off a 440m success at Goulburn a month ago.

An unexpected error occurred.

Hardman said: "Three weeks ago I gave her a post-to-post slip at Wenty and she couldn't break 25 seconds,'' Hardman said.

"But she has improved out of sight with every look there and last Saturday, after the last race at Wentworth Park, I'm Sweet clocked 24.10 in a post-to-post hand-slip.

"That is really quick for a lightly raced fifth grader, but it was her run home time, a fantastic 11.35, that indicated she should have no trouble seeing out a strong 520 metres.''

Still Available has won 10 races at Wentworth Park, but trainer Garry Coles did not consider nominating his tough campaigner for Saturday night's Group 3 Bob Payne Sprint.

"I don't think Still Available is quite up to the class of dog that are likely to be tackling that race,'' Coles said.

"I figured that with the Ladbrokes Puppy Classic on at Nowra and the Bob Payne and Group 3 Ladies Bracelet on at Wentworth Park on Saturday night, Friday night's Wenty meeting be an easier option for my greyhound.''

Still Available, who has box seven in Friday's Ladbrokes Mates Mode Hosted Pots Stakes, a 520m third and fourth grade, was an excellent fourth in top grade at Wentworth Park last Saturday night.

An unexpected error occurred.

"He missed the jump last week but unfortunately Still Available can often do that,'' Coles said.

"But Friday's looks a winnable race and he is not badly drawn because he has won four of his eight races coming out of box seven.''

Armatree Honey came out "under the lids'' and posted a sizzling first split of 5.37 when she led throughout at Wentworth Park last Thursday night.

But trainer Ric Anderson concedes his bitch is going to have to repeat that performance if she is to have any chance of beating boom youngster Unleash Georgia in Friday night's Ladbrokes Odds Surge Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

An unexpected error occurred.

Last week Armatree Honey was having only her second start since October and not only "flew" out of the boxes but won by five lengths in 29.85, clearly her fastest Wentworth Park time.

"Armatree Honey had box five last week, but I'm very happy seeing her in box two on Friday,'' Anderson said.

"But Pete's (Peter Lagogiane's) bitch Unleash Georgia has won in 29.62 and 29.67 at Wentworth Park and she is going to be awfully hard to beat.

"She has box five but has a vacant box on her outside and I've noticed Unleash Georgia takes a step to the right when she jumps and then goes straight.

"She is not badly drawn so if Armatree Honey is going to win she has to come out of the boxes like she did last week.''

Best bet on Friday should be the Jason Magri-trained Robert Keeping, who has box seven in the Anzac Day Lest We Forget Stakes, another 520m fifth grade.

An unexpected error occurred.

Before last Saturday night's similarly graded event, trainer Magri believed Robert Keeping was capable of clocking a smart 29.60 for the Wentworth Park 520m trip so was pleasantly surprised when the dog recorded a sizzling 29.38, fastest time of the meeting.

"He got the start just right and that enabled him to show what he could do,'' Magri said.

If Robert Keeping "gets the start right again" on Friday he should have no trouble notching his eighth win in 13 races.
