McKeon, a 22 month old budding superstar, will be set for the listed Ladbrokes Chief Havoc Cup at Gunnedah following her dazzling all-the-way win in Thursday's Jack Somerville Northern Rivers Cup at Casino.

The Mick Landrigan-trained McKeon, named after multiple Olympic medal winning swimmer Emma McKeon, exploded from box eight and easily snared the $50,000 first prizemoney to take her record to nine wins and three placings from just a dozen races.

Landrigan, the uncle of highly successful breeder, owner and trainer Mark Moroney, trains McKeon for her breeder Grahame Blunt, who won 22 races with her dam Fire On Ice.

McKeon's sparkling form continues the remarkable sequence of big race wins for the dam line established by Moroney, whose dog Fire Legend, a litter brother to Fire On Ice, won 54 of 120 races and earned over $359,000.

Heats of the Chief Havoc Cup will be run over 527m at Gunnedah on June 1 with the $40,000 to the winner final a week later.

Mark Moroney said: "McKeon is from Fire On Ice's third litter, sired by Bernardo, and I won a race at the new Queensland track The Q on April 21 with McKeon's litter brother Fiery Piastri.

"Heroic Federer, another sibling, is trained by Mick Landrigan for my long time friend Grahame Blunt, and that young dog is no slouch either, having had four wins and four placings from nine starts.''

Boaz, who scored his most recent win a month after his sixth birthday, has been retired and will live out his days in the lounge room of his trainers Caitlyn and Ricky Brewer.

Boaz, or "Larry" as he is known to the Brewers, earned nearly $54,000 after 64 races for 31 wins, 14 seconds and five thirds, a remarkable strike rate.

At his latest and final appearance Boaz was runner-up over 318m at Dubbo on March 1, four weeks after winning over 330m at Temora.

Ricky Brewer said: "He has been such a wonderful dog that I said to his owner, Sam Mayer, let's not race him until he breaks down.

"Boaz is still capable of blowing away most of the dogs in our kennels at Woodstock, near Cowra, but Caitlyn and I wanted to retire him while he was still fit and injury free.''

The Brewers recently joined National Derby winning trainer Steve Cleary and highly successful former Bathurst trainer Darren Wort at Woodstock.

"That's why we are doing most of our racing at Temora these days and Caitlyn and I won a double there on Wednesday with Fulfilment and Samurai,'' Ricky Brewer said.

"They are highly promising but whether they can run 500 metres further down the track is the question.

"When we trial them there is nothing between them but Samurai could be a seriously good greyhound, because when he won on Wednesday it was the first time he had jumped cleanly.''

Fulfilment, an impeccably bred youngster who has won two from three starts, is raced by Boaz's owner Sam Mayer, while the Brewers own Samurai, whose record is stands at two wins from four appearances.
