Intrepid Eagle, who made an outstanding first Wentworth Park appearance with a slick 29.62 over 520m win on Thursday night, is five weeks too old for Saturday's heats of the group one Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic.
Intrepid Eagle will now just "go through his grades" according to trainer Wayne Bradley, beginning with a one-to-three wins fifth grade at Wentworth Park on July 3.
The dog took his record to three wins from four starts with his all-the-way romp on Thursday night and Bradley is looking no further ahead than the Gosford Goldmine, restricted to greyhounds with no more than six wins and scheduled for Tuesday, July 29.
Intrepid Eagle is the first greyhound Bradley, a Queanbeyan painting contractor, has trained for owner Brian Jaggers.
Jungle Deuce, the sire of Intrepid Eagle, won the group one Paws Of Thunder and Gold Bullion, along with a pair of group twos and a group three, and was owned by Jaggers and Clay Mawson.
Jaggers also raced Intrepid Eagle's dam Solar Sky, who won 16 races and is a daughter of the phenomenal producer Solar Sky, whose offspring have won $2.7m in prizemoney.
"I must pay trirbute to Chris Spratt who educated Intrepid Eagle at Sunny Lodge, Cudal, because he unearthed this dog's talent,'' Jaggers said.
"When I watched Intrepid Eagle's final trial as he was being broken-in, he was most disappointing, he seemed to be a bit half-hearted.
"Chris assured me Intrepid Eagle had real ability and persuaded me to leave the dog with him for another three weeks, virtually to be re-educted.
"When he left Spratt's care less than a month later, Intrepid Eagle was going like a rocket."
"Intrepid Eagle is the first dog Wayne Bradley has trained for me but we became acquainted through meeting at Potts Park in December, 2020."
"I was keen to have a bet on his bitch Queen Chloe in a maiden race that day, but when I realised Wayne was in the betting ring I approached him because I did not want to "steal" his price."
"Wayne told me to go ahead and back Queen Chloe whenever I wanted to and when she won we became friends.''
Wayne Bradley has no hesitation in declaring Intrepid Eagle the best he has trained "by a country mile!''
He said: "I have been a hobby trainer for 30 years but only have four kennels and that keeps me busy enough as I have my painting business to operate."
"Until Intrepid Eagle came along I trained a couple of handy dogs which were owned by the rugby league Australian test winger Terry Fahey, the best being The Red Cloth."
"That was back in the Harold Park era and most of my success has been at country tracks like Nowra."
"So I'm naturally very excited about having a dog as good as Intrepid Eagle in my care.''
