Likeable Rogue, the most prolific winner of races at Ladbrokes Gardens, continued on his remarkable streak at the Newcastle track with win number 29 last Friday.
Owned and trained by John Edwards, Likeable Rogue made light of his box four draw, bouncing clear of his rivals as they jumped from the 400m start before winning easily in 22.96.
Likeable Rogue will go around again on Monday at Maitland, where he has won twice.
An unexpected error occurred.
"The Gardens is his favourite track, he loves the place, but he is nicely placed at Maitland because he is in an M3 Masters there after being in a top grade veterans' race a couple of weeks back,'' Edwards said.
"I bought Likeable Rogue as a puppy for $3000, and he has been a phenomenal buy.
"The record books show he has earned just over $75,000, but in real terms, he has won around $95,000 because he picked up a couple of jackpots along the way and one night they bet $41 about him, so I had a bet there."
Likeable Rogue
"I was a signwriter for 25 years and a house painter for another 25, but when I was in my mid-twenties, I used to exercise a few greyhounds for John Drinkwater, proprietor of the Abernethy Trial Track.
"In the early '70s, I decided I wouldn't mind training one myself, so John gave me a dog - and after I won with it immediately, I was hooked on the sport!
"During my years in greyhound racing, I have met a couple of knockabouts who I would describe as likeable rogues, so that's where this dog got his name.
"Until Likeable Rogue came along, my best was Regal Promise, who won eight races at Wentworth Park, and while I only have four in works these days, another in my kennel, Max Stappen, goes pretty good too, as he has won 18 races.
"Likeable Rogue turns five in September, and I will restrict him to races no longer than 400 metres.
"I gave him a couple of trials over 450m at Maitland a while back, and it didn't suit him.
"I'm fortunate as while I am away at the races, Leslee, my wife of 47 years, cares for the other dogs in the kennels.''
