Just a week after receiving permission to be post-race handler of her multi-group one-winning dad Jason Mackay's greyhounds, 14-year-old Rose Mackay caught two winners at Maitland on Monday.
Rose was in the catching pen to pick up King Of Gods after he won a 400m maiden event in a sizzling 22.16 and to collect that dog's litter brother Prince Of Persia after he notched his second win in four starts, covering the 400m in 22.38.
"I turn 15 in October and at the moment I am in year nine at High School, but all I want to do is to become a trainer like dad,'' Rose said.
"That has been my ambition since I could walk and every day I am in the kennels helping dad with our team of 27 race dogs.
"We have two pets, and one of them, Zipping Blaze, who won a dozen races, is my favourite.
"Among the race dogs, my pick is undoubtedly Croydon, who has won five out of seven starts.
"A week ago, I received permission to catch dad's dogs after their races, but I am excited about being able to lead them to and place them in the starting boxes when I am 16.
"I'm already doing that in trials, getting people to show me how to box them, as it takes some practice, especially as some dogs are harder to place away than others.''
Rose Mackay will be hoping to catch her first Wentworth Park winner when Jason Mackay's Ladbrokes Grafton Cup runner-up Tracker, wearing the white rug, contests Saturday night's third race at headquarters.
An unexpected error occurred.
She's A Pearl's unbeaten daughter She's Fearless will be back in action at Goulburn on Friday when she contests a 1-3 wins 440m fifth grade.
An unexpected error occurred.
She's Fearless won over 350m at Goulburn in a best of the day 19.67 on July 4 before clocking fastest time of the night at 29.63 in her Wentworth Park debut last Thursday.
At her only other appearance, She's Fearless posted quickest time of the night 29.83 winning on debut over 520m at Dapto on June 12.
She's Fearless at Wentworth Park
"This bitch is going better than her mum, She's A Pearl, was, at the same age,'' co-trainer Andy Lord said.
"I put her in at Goulburn on Friday to work her through her grades, this is a one to three wins event so that is ideal for her.
"Although She's Fearless uses a bit of the track and middle boxes will always suit her best, she runs straight when she jumps, she doesn't veer hard right immediately.
"Two of her litter brothers, Fearless Bandit and He's A Pearl, are having their first starts at Goulburn on Friday in heats of the Ladbrokes Zoom Top Maiden series.
