Bomaderry trainer Chris Witt paid tribute to fellow trainers Greg and Scott Board and Nathan Goodwin after landing his first Wentworth Park winner when Spring Breezing upset hot favourite Zipping Zodiac at headquarters on Saturday night.

Spring Breezing headed off Ding's Sandy on the back straight and comfortably held off Zipping Zodiac to win a 520m fifth grade by a length in a smart 29.62, easily his best Wentworth Park time.

After the race a jubilant Witt said: "I owned Angry Blizzard, who won the 2022 Masters Meteor final for me when trained by Nathan Goodwin.

"Then two years ago I decided to have a crack at training and bought a dog called Spring Tesla from Greg and Scott Board.

"That dog was beaten in a photo finish as a $100 outsider for me at Wenty so I went back to the Board family to buy Spring Breezing, with whom I won my first metropolitan race tonight.

"When I took up training Nathan Goodwin offered to teach me the ropes and I drove a caravan up to his property at Kempsey and stayed there for a month, learning how to train greyhounds.''

Jodie and Andy Lord train Taormina, early favourite for the Group One Dapto Megastar, but now have a powerful "second stringer" following Destroying's brilliant win at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Destroying recorded his fastest Wentworth Park time of 29.50 and took his record to a consistent eight wins and four placings from 15 starts when he took the lead at the half-way mark to win a 520m fifth grade by four lengths.

Taormina, trained by the Lords, clocked near record time winning the Dapto Silver Collar on Thursday night and was immediately installed favourite for the Megastar final there on September 11.

Andy Lord said on Saturday night: "Destroying has not raced at Dapto but he has trialled there so will know where he is going when he tackles the Megastar heats.''

Le Bron Boy has won only four of 40 races but two have been at Wentworth Park and the Mark Swift-trained dog clocked his personal best figures at the track with his strong 30.02 second fifth grade win on Saturday.

After a moderate getaway, Le Bron Boy secured a rails run in a first turn scrimmage to hit the front entering the back straight for a comfortable win.

Trainer Mark Swift said: "He had a bit of luck tonight but we'll take that happily.

"Although Le Bron Boy railed at the first turn he came out of box six and for some reason he loves that draw.

"He has now had seven runs from box six for two wins and four placings.

"Le Bron Boy usually begins slowly so when he draws inside he gets cluttered up in the early stages.''

Zipping Chetty displayed remarkable "track sense" to overcome her box seven draw for a runaway 29.75 win in a 520m fifth grade on Saturday.

After being fourth going through the catching pen, Zipping Chetty continued to rail up strongly and after taking the lead on the home bend, won by six lengths.

Trainer Courtney Barnes said: "She is a real good little chaser.

"Zipping Chetty is better suited from an inside box but tonight she handled herself well to get across to the fence from box seven.

"Then she found a gap on the inside and came home strongly.''

Training honours on Saturday were with Jodie and Andy Lord, who won with Destroying and completed a double when Zoom Top Maiden Classic winner Classy Bandit opened his Wentworth Park account with an all-the-way win in 29.68.

Vista Yttrium showed improved box manners for trainer Jay Opetaia ro be second on the back straight before winning Saturday's top grade 520m race in 29.71.

In that race favourite Schillaci lost all chance at the first turn when he collided heavily with Rema's Amethyst.

Suribachi cemented her reputation as NSW's most promising stayer by bolting away with Saturday's 720m event, taking her long distance tally in town to four wins and four placings from eight appearances.
