Late Night News finished third behind runner-up Ayden's Warrior in the Group 2 Sydney Cup on October 17 but is boxed to turn the tables on his rival at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Victoria's Without A Trace smashed the race record when she led all the way and covered the 720m in 41.37 in the Cup final, while Ayden's Warrior chased her throughout after exiting box one.

Late Night News, who had box seven in the final, came from near last to finish third, just over a length behind Ayden's Warrior.

While Ayden's Warrior looks certain to make the pace after drawing ideally in box one again on Saturday, Late Night News will relish the move from a wide to an inside draw.

Late Night News' box statistics tell the tale, as he has won eight of his 14 races from boxes one and two but has not registered a single win from the outside alleys, seven and eight.

Best graded dog at Wentworth Park on Saturday is the Mark Gatt-trained Forged Iron, who has box four in The Lids Fly on Ladbrokes Live Channels Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Forged Iron has won seven races at Wentworth Park, his latest being an all-the-way win in a handy 29.79, from box three, last Saturday night.

While Forged Iron is a prolific city winner, his six rivals on Saturday have notched just four Wentworth Park victories between them.

Perhaps his most talented rival is King Of Gods, who won first-up in 29.75 at Wentworth Park on October 11 but failed to beat one home in a tougher race on Million Dollar Chase night, October 17.

Trainer Jason Mackay said: "He went poorly at Wentworth Park last week but I think he became unnerved by all the noise and crowd on that big night.

"King Of Gods is capable of a sharp improvement although he has box eight and that is not going to help him.''

Trio Of Clowns, a semi-finalist in the Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase, should also appreciate a drop in class when he tackles Saturday's 2nd Annual Mudgee Repair Fund Stakes, another 520m fifth grade.

Trio Of Clowns was sent out a $3 favourite when fifth in the Group 2 Sires Of Ice Black Top final at The Gardens on September 27 but has won five of 15 Wentworth Park appearances.

He will wear the red rug on Saturday and is a true "box one bandit" having saluted in five of his seven previous assignments from the rails trap.

Zipping Cluedo and Zipping Zodiac were unplaced at Nowra at their most recent starts but their connections believe they can improve sharply after each drew box one at Wentworth Park on Saturday.

Zipping Cluedo, who had box two when a fast finishing 29.91 winner at Wentworth Park on October 17, finished fourth, from box seven, over 520m at Nowra on October 20.

Zipping Cluedo has box one in Saturday's We Stand With Tasmania 520m fifth grade while Zipping Zodiac will wear the red livery in the 520m fifth grade Ladbrokes Sports Bar Stakes.

Warren Everitt, whose partner Frances Goodwin trains Zipping Cluedo and Zipping Zodiac, said: "Zipping Cluedo is desperate for an inside draw so will relish having box one on Saturday.

"He was unlucky not to finish at least second at Nowra and from the rails I think he will go close to winning this week.

"Zipping Zodiac had somehow gone up a kilo in weight when ran fifth at Nowra but I have since trialled him twice and he has flown both times.

"In his latest box-to-box hit-out at Nowra he ran home in 12.30, yet if they clock 12.50 they are going great.''

Having an empty box on his right is a big plus for Federal Bullet in Saturday's Ladbrokes Mates Mode Pots 520m fifth grade according to trainer Jason Mackay.

"This dog is improving all the time and he clocked his fastest Wenty time of 29.59 in finishing second from box six on October 17,'' Mackay said.

"Middle boxes suit Federal Bullet so being in four, with box five empty, is close to ideal.''
