Frank Cini, a former successful jockey and greyhound trainer, has died, aged 68.

Cini, the son of famous trainer, the late Alex Cini, had been battling kidney cancer for the past five years.

His uncle, current trainer Phil Cini, said: "When he was a jockey Frank was always taking these slimming pills and they destroyed his kidneys.

"He had been on dialysis for the past five years and had been all set to receive a kidney transplant when Covid struck and the operation was cancelled.

"Frank was a good very good hand with a dog, his best probably being The Wee Shannon, who won the Dave Alexander Memorial final at Wentworth Park.''

Frank Cini's funeral will be held at Palmdale Crematorium, on the Central Coast, at 11.30 on Tuesday, December 2.

The staff of GRNSW extended sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late Frank Cini
