Litter brothers Loco Storm, Loco Boom and Loco Dominator, raced by Ray Magri and trained by his brother Jason, will target next month's Group One National Derby after filling the trifecta in Friday night's Anniversary Cup at Richmond.

The trio stunned racegoers by relegating the boom favourites Consigliere and Dalwhinnie to the unplaced division, while another member of the Magri family's litter, Loco Ryder, finished fifth.

Magri's quartet of greyhound siblings will have their credentials for the January 17 heats of the 520m Derby put to the test when they strut their stuff at Wentworth Park on Thursday  night.

Remarkably, Loco Storm and his brothers were produced by Gabby Keeping, who was presented to Ray Magri after she retired from racing.

Gabby Keeping, who was owned, trained and bred by Charmaine Roberts and her partner Shayne Stiff, was lightly raced, winning eight of 18 starts at Dubbo and Bathurst.

Roberts had planned for Gabby Keeping to continue her career in Jason Magri's kennels, but the greyhound broke down.

"When Gabby Keeping broke down and had to be retired, Charmaine and Shayne agreed to give her to Ray in exchange for some pups from her first litter, sired by Sennachie,'' Jason Magri said.

"Best of them was Blue Falcon, who won 20 races, but this litter is superior.

"Loco Dominator has been slightly the quickest but before the Anniversary Cup at Richmond, Loco Boom trialled best, then Loco Storm came out and won the race,'' Jason Magri said.

Gabby Keeping's offspring have earned over $320,000 so Charmaine Roberts' & Shayne Stiff's generosity has resulted in Ray Magri acquiring a valuable brood bitch.

Trainer Jason Magri will be chasing redemption with his "Loco" quartet in this year's Derby as in 2024, his finalist Zipping Kristoff drew box one and was one of the favourites, but after leading around Wentworth Park's first turn from Victoria's Paw Oswald, he faded to finish fourth to the greyhound.

Jason Magri has not won a National Derby although he had a hand in the 2021 final when Zipping Moose, trained by his protege and strapper Luke Adams, was successful.
