Dazzle You Set To Shine On Wenty Debut

Dazzle You bolted away with the 2009 Tweed Heads Galaxy in a flying 23.06 for the 420m, and now his namesake, owned by the Ferguson family who raced the Border Park winner, is tipped to make a winning Wentworth Park debut on Thursday night.

The Tweed Heads Galaxy was the most sought-after and richest non-TAB race on the Australian calendar from its inception in 1971 until its 2013 conclusion.

Trained by Jodie and Andy Lord, the new Dazzle You has won three of four 350m and 440m Goulburn sprints for owner Blake Ferguson, and will exit box two in the Ladbrokes Quick Multi 520m fifth grade.

Ferguson's parents Majella and Craig raced the 2009 Galaxy winner, and although the latest Dazzle You has not raced beyond 440m co-trainer Andy Lord said: "He will run 520m, that won't be a problem.

"Dazzle You had a 520m trial at Wentworth Park and ran handy time despite getting lost through having not previously seen the track.

"But he went well enough to indicate he will run a strong 520m and be hard to beat.''

When Dazzle You won over 440m at Goulburn at his most recent appearance, he was a conspicuous last to leave the boxes yet railed underneath his rivals to career away and win by five lengths.

He defeated his litter sister and kennelmate Stilton Shine, who will also make her first Wentworth Park  appearance on Thursday night.

Mark Gatt dominated Thursday night racing at Wentworth Park in December and has a strong hand in this week's meeting.

On December 11 Gatt trained four winners, Ritza Ringer, Ritza Tears, Ritza Tiana and Wyndra All Heart, before landing another "quadrella" a week later with Ritza Ringer, Ritza Tiana, Wyndra All Heart and Jungle Johnny.

He began 2026 with a bang, taking out the group two Beast Unleashed Gosford Gold Cup in track record time with Jungle Johnny last Saturday night.

This week Gatt will be represented by Wyndra Heart and Ritza Tiana up against Dazzle You, and by Ritza Toby in the 520m We Stand With Tasmania Maiden, Ritza Law in the powerandglory.com.au 520m fifth grade, Ritza Tears in the Sponsor a Race @ Wenty 520m fifth grade and Ritza Ringer in the Ladbrokes Srm in Multis 520m fifth grade.

Ritza Ringer is undefeated in three races, all at Wentworth Park , and understandably Gatt is upbeat about his prospects on Thursday.

"He had box one when he won easily in 29.77 last Thursday so looks hard to beat after getting the same box this week,'' Gatt said.

"Wyndra All Heart made a mess of box one before finishing third as an odds-on favourite at Wenty on December 27 but I think he will handle it okay providing he jumps cleanly this time.

"He missed the kick and didn't handle the inside alley when he ran third but it should be a different story if he nails the start.

"His kennelmate Ritza Tiana was a good second, beaten nearly eight lengths, by Ritza Ringer last week but she is still learning.

"She had box five and was hampered looking for the rails in the run to the first turn but then finished strongly down the outside.

"So I'm not sure what box she wants yet, although she certainly has ability.

"Ritza Law is having his first Wentworth Park  race on Thursday and I'm confident he will handle box seven."

"He had box eight when he led all the way to win by nine lengths in a fast 22.44 over 400m at Bulli a month ago at his first start so should be fine with the wide alley at Wentworth Park.''

Best bet on Thursday should be the Jodie Lord-trained Taormina, who has box four in the gapnsw.com.au 520m top grade.

Taormina will be out to lift her Wentworth Park record to a remarkable 50 per cent winning strike rate, chasing her 17th success in 34 appearances over the 520m trip.

Although drawn in the middle, Taormina tends to use a bit of the track and with an empty box on her left and Classic Ethics, usually a moderate beginner on her outside, she should lead all the way.
