Andrew Rowe's dynamic duo Taw Galaxy and Taw Major are closing in on the $250,000 mark after their outstanding wins at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Taw Major, a son of Rowe's amazing brood bitch Wayang Angel, notched his 11th win in 32 starts when he trailed Hot Shot Ethics to the home turn before pouncing on the lead to win a 520m fifth grade in a personal best 29.56.

Forty five minutes later his litter brother Taw Galaxy came from third in the middle stages and hit the front at the top of the straight before coming away and win Saturday's top grade 520m race in 29.51.

Andrew Rowe has had a high opinion of the litter whelped by Wayang Angel to Wow in July, 2023, from day one.

After they were educated Rowe declared: "This is a really exciting litter, and the dog who I have named Taw Galaxy is the best of them.''

Taw Galaxy has vindicated Rowe's faith by winning the Wentworth Park Magic Maiden and the Goulburn Cup, with Saturday's win, his 17th from 37 appearances, lifting his earnings to $148,400.

Taw Major's victory on Saturday night, his 11th from 32 outings, took his tally to $75,000, putting Rowe's dynamic duo's prizemoney at a combined $223,400.

Taw Galaxy's time was the fastest of the meeting on Saturday, with Taw Major's figures bettered only by Dennis Keeping, who led all the way to win a 520m fifth grade in 29.55.

Slowest time of the night was the 30.38 posted by Fascinate Vern in another 520m fifth grade but to his owner-trainer Steve Heggs it was like winning a group race.

After Fascinate Vern had begun brilliantly and led throughout to win by a length, an excited Heggs said: "That was my first Wentworth Park Saturday night winner in 25 years as a trainer.

"I won at a Wenty Thursday meeting with Fascinate Pearl in August, 2024, but Saturday is the big night so I'm thrilled to win this with Fascinate Vern.

"I can't believe how fast he came out of the boxes tonight, that won him the race.

"I'm a hobby trainer at Neath, near Cessnock, and work as a handyman while training my greyhounds.''

Jason Mackay trained a quinella when President Rolex edged out El Rey in a 520m fifth grade on Saturday, but Ballyneale Bolt, the star of his team, was desperately unlucky when second in a similar race when a $1.30 hot favorite.

Ballyneale Bolt bungled the start totally and was checked on the first turn before charging into third position behind pacemaker Major Flirt on the back straight.

After working his way into second spot on the home bend, Ballyneale Bolt "died" on his run and was beaten just under three lengths by Major Flirt.

Nathan Goodwin, trainer of Major Flirt, said later: "I had a good bet on Major Flirt when he won from box one over 515m at The Gardens on February 6.

"Even though he ran home in a fast 12.02 at The Gardens I didn't back him tonight because I didn't think he could beat Ballyneale Bolt.

"On top of that Major Flirt had box seven, and he is desperate for an inside alley.

"But he just managed to clear Rugged Ethics when that dog ran off on the first corner and once he got away with a big break I knew they weren't going to catch him, because he is very strong.''
