Ready To Excel At Wenty

Fear To Excel was having only her third 520m test when she was a luckless second at Wentworth Park last Saturday night, and trainer Allen Williams believes she can break through for her first city win there on Thursday.

Fear To Excel had box six when beaten a head by Boppin' Ethics last Saturday, but will exit box two this week.

"That's where she wants to be, she is much better off close to the rails,'' Williams said.

Last Saturday, Fear To Excel disputed the early lead with fast starter Fascinate Kath but was trapped outside that greyhound throughout and had difficulty getting around her.

"Not only that, but when they collided on the home turn, the winner secured the rails run and got up to beat Fear To Excel,'' trainer Williams added.

"Fear To Excel can always run 18 or 18.10 for the third section at Wenty, and she is very strong at the end of 520m.''

It took Ken Burnett's sensational prospect Blue Storm nearly 500m to catch Mighty Henry in the Robert Smith Memorial final at The Gardens on February 14.

Mighty Henry set a scorching pace to the home bend but faded slightly near the end of 515m, and Blue Storm charged home to win by three-quarters of a length from the fast finishing Zipping Kayli, who edged Mighty Henry out in a tight finish for second.

Mighty Henry will make his Wentworth Park debut in Thursday night's Sponsor a Race 1 Win fifth grade over 520m and will exit box four.

He has not raced since winning a 515m maiden at The Gardens on February 21 in a slick 29.65 but trainer Amber Capper said the dog has been trialling well.

"He has been going as well as ever around The Gardens,'' Capper said.

"Mighty Henry has not seen Wentworth Park, but that should not worry him because he has so much early pace.''

Hardest for Mighty Henry to beat should be Stomper Romper, who finished strongly to win a 365m maiden at Nowra last Thursday night.

Stomper Romper has been runner-up in each of two Wentworth Park appearances from wide draws but had no luck in those races and is better positioned in box two on Thursday.

Riley Dozer was beaten nearly eight lengths when second at Wentworth Park last Thursday night, but should have finished much closer and can atone in Thursday's We Stand With Tasmania 520m fifth grade.

He was badly checked at the first turn and inconvenienced again going through the catching pen, and showed great tenacity to finish stoutly and snare second placing.

Trainer Ruth King said, "Riley Dozer is a pretty tough sort of dog.

"He has box six on Thursday but can handle an outside draw.''

The only problem for King's dog could be the presence of the talented Extreme Machine, who is positioned outside him in box seven.

Extreme Machine has won two from three Wentworth Park races, both from box three, and is a keen railer.

If he jumps cleanly, he could worry Riley Dozer in the charge to the first turn.

Mighty Henry's trainer Amber Capper also has the promising Reborn Scarlett making her first Wentworth Park appearance from box eight in Thursday's gapnsw.com.au 520m fifth grade.

Reborn Scarlett came from last at box rise when beaten in a tight finish by subsequent Wentworth Park winner Zipping Maudie at The Gardens on April 11 and was runner-up again there last Saturday night.

Capper said: "Reborn Scarlett has had a couple of slips around Wentworth Park, but I would have preferred her to be drawn nearer the rails this week.

"She has as much ability as Mighty Henry, and while she doesn't possess his early speed she has a good middle sectional time and is stronger than him at the finish.''

On Thursday, Zipping Maudie, who defeated Reborn Scarlett at The Gardens, looks the greyhound to beat again.

Zipping Maudie followed her win at The Gardens with an all-the-way Wentworth Park win last Thursday and is in line for her fourth successive win when she lines up from box three on Thursday night.

She has box three on Thursday and should get a clear run to the first turn courtesy of her Nathan Goodwin-trained kennelmate Cold Cold Night, who has box four and is a wide runner with abundant early pace.
