Speedy Zipper won his heat of the Simply Limelight Gosford to Wenty series in around 10 lengths slower time than his kennelmate Red Hot Tina but has a great chance of toppling her in Thursday night's final at WP.

In the June 9 heats over 515m at Gosford, Red Hot Tina was second away but quickly sailed to the lead and won easily in 29.68.

Speedy Zipper, also trained by Natina Howard, was last away from box eight and was badly hampered twice by a wide running rival as he attempted to reach the rails.

After being shuffled back to a distant fifth on the back straight, Speedy Zipper unleashed a dramatic burst, storming home to win running away.

Speedy Zipper had proved he was capable of much faster time by winning over 515m at Gosford last month in 29.60, .08sec quicker than Red Hot Tina's figures in the June 9 heats.

On Thursday Speedy Zipper should only need to have reasonable luck to win from box four, while Red Hot Tina is awkwardly positioned in box eight.

Vodka And Ice drops in class from contesting group one long-distance event to a fifth grade when he chases his fifth 720m win at WP on Thursday night.

The Caroline Hughes-trained dog has box seven in the Wenty Leagues Stakes and with a personal best WP long distance time of 41.53, he has the equivalent of 10 lengths on his closest rival, Go Jo Jo.

Like Vodka And Ice, Go Jo Jo has won four long-distance events at WP but his best time is 42.37, far slower than Vodka And Ice's top figures.

Vodka And Ice was runner-up to Ayden's Warrior in a 715m group one event at Sandown on May 15 before finishing down the course in the final won by that dog eight days later.

Victorian-trained dogs have won two of the past eight Vic Peters Classic finals and their boom youngster Biscottino, a winner of nine from 13 starts, will be chasing the group one event this year.

Biscottino is looking to emulate Deliver and Playlist, who took the first prizemoney cheques home to Victoria in 2018 and 2020.

Biscottino will be gaining WP experience for the June 27 Classic heats when he contests Thursday day night's Going To The Dogs Stakes, the top grade 520m event.

Biscottino's trainer Rodney Clark said: "It has been getting a bit hard to place this dog back home because a lot of Melbourne races these days are for greyhounds bred in Victoria, but he was bred in NSW.

"He is up against a hot field for his first look at Wenty on Thursday but I like him where he has drawn, out in box eight.

"Biscottino has abundant early speed and is usually a good beginner.

"I also have his litter sister Cheeky Meeki making her WP debut in race eight, a 520m fifth grade.

"She does not have as much ability as Biscottino but she has dazzling early pace and is generally fast out of the boxes.

"She has won six from 13 races in Victoria and I am keen to see if she is worth bringing back to WP for the heats of the group one Peter Mosman Opal on June 27.''

Cheeky Meeki will also line up against a strong field, including Money Keeping, who has won four of five WP outings.

Trunkey Moth finished two lengths behind Zipping Hamilton when they clashed in a maiden race at WP last Thursday but is boxed to turn the tables in Thursday night's We Stand With Tasmania Maiden over 520m.

Zipping Hamilton, who has box three this week, led to the turn when second, beaten just under a length by Ovation Key last week, while Trunkey Moth, who was two lengths away third, had come out of box eight.

But Trunkey Moth's run was outstanding as he missed the start and was hampered when trying to negotiate a path across to the rails in the early and middle stages.

Trunkey Moth will be suited by the shift from the extreme outside draw last week to box two on Thursday.
