Nangar Lady has rewarded favourite backers in each of her past five wins at Wentworth Park and will carry the hopes of the punters again on Thursday night.
The Jodie Lord-trained bitch is certain to be all the rage when she exits box one in The Lids Fly On Ladbrokes Live Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.
An unexpected error occurred.
It is hard to imagine a better placed greyhound at this week's meeting as Nangar Lady won five Wentworth Park races in this grade between October 18 and November 21, after being sent out favourite at prices ranging from $1.08 to $2.30.
Her sole Wentworth Park win when she was not favourite was when she won her maiden race as a $5.50 chance.
Boxes make little difference to Nangar Lady but when she last drew box one at Wentworth Park, she trailed the speedy Maura Figgis to the back straight before railing to the lead and winning easily in 29.63, her fastest Wenty time.
She looks assured of a clear run on Thursday as Irinka Benji, who has box two, is a notoriously slow beginner.
Canya Brew It's win at Ladbrokes Gardens last Saturday night was just .37sec outside the 515m track record set by French Martini on September 30, 2022.
He returns to Wentworth Park in Thursday night's NSW GBOTA Welcome Stakes, a 520m one to two wins fifth grade.
An unexpected error occurred.
Canya Brew It made his debut at Wentworth Park as a maiden on October 10 but bungled the start from box eight before being skittled by a wide runner at the first turn.
Trainer Joe McFadyen said: "I wasn't really surprised he clocked 29.33 at The Gardens last Saturday because he has had talent from day one.
"From the day I started pre-training Canya Brew It he showed promise and in his first 515m trial at The Gardens he ran 29.59.
"Then he clocked 29.99 in his first go around Wenty yet he has only won two from eight races, mainly because he has been a slow beginner.
"But he got away a lot better at The Gardens last Saturday so I'm hoping the penny has dropped as far as his box manners go.''
Intense Power, who has recorded fastest time of the meeting in winning each of her past three Richmond 401m starts, makes her first 520m appearance in Thursday night's Ladbrokes Hosted Pots Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.
An unexpected error occurred.
Intense Power's owner-trainer Rod Dennis is quietly confident the step up to 520m will not be a problem for his bitch.
"She was desperately unlucky in a 280m race at Wentworth Park early in her career and was sidelined for nine months,'' Dennis said.
"Since coming back I have given her two post-to-post slips at Wenty and she has gone well enough for me to believe she can run 29.90 or 30.00 over the 520m.
"She is perfectly drawn in box one but will need to jump cleanly because this looks to be a particularly strong fifth grade.''
Dennis has been a quiet achiever as a hobby trainer for 40 years and is proud that he has been able to win a race or two over five decades.
National Derby hopefuls Black Myth Wave and Zipping Grinch clash in Thursday night's Ladbrokes Sport Bar Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.
An unexpected error occurred.
The Jason Magri-trained Zipping Grinch boasts a personal best Wentworth Park time of 29.45 but he has box seven, and the draw favours the Vic Sultana-prepared Black Myth Wave, who will wear the red rug.
Black Myth Wave's two Wentworth Park successes have been in 29.86 and 29.93 but his quickest first split is 5.39, while Zipping Grinch has not bettered 5.45.
And Zipping Grinch's best opening section was recorded from box one, when he made the pace before being run down by Zig Zag Man at Wentworth Park last Saturday night.
