Robert Keeping has trounced his rivals by over 10 lengths at his past two Wentworth Park starts, and a slick 520m trial suggests his litter brother and kennelmate Allan Keeping is capable of emulating his sibling there on Thursday night.
Allan Keeping, who has box two in the 520m fifth grade Ladbrokes Same Race Multi Mix Stakes, clocked 29.66 when he defeated two opponents in the trial at Wentworth Park last Thursday.
An unexpected error occurred.
After being last away from box five, Allan Keeping took the lead on the back straight and won easily from Zipping Frida and Zipping Upton, recording a third split of 17.91 before running home in a smart 11.75.
Despite that impressive performance, Allan Keeping's trainer Jason Magri said he would have preferred to see his dog drawn wide on Thursday night.
"He is a bad beginner,'' Magri warned.
"If Allan Keeping had drawn box seven or eight, he could have scooted around the field at the first turn, but I'm worried that if he misses the kick as he often does, he might get tangled up from his inside alley.''
Shortest priced favourite on Thursday night will be Destroying, chasing his fourth successive Wentworth Park win in the one to three wins Ladbrokes Mates Mode Pots Stakes.
An unexpected error occurred.
Destroying led quickly from box five to win by 10 lenghs in similar class at Wentworth Park last Saturday night, clocking a scorching 29.50, and he has box one this week.
Andy Lord, whose wife Jodie trains Destroying, said: "He is a very good pup, and as he doesn't turn two until September, he is still only a baby.
"After Thursday night, Destroying will be sent to Brisbane trainer Tony Brett to tackle a couple of big Queensland races and then he will come back to our kennels to be set for the Group One Vic Peters Classic series at Wentworth Park in July.''
Vivid Memory's maiden win at Wentworth Park last Saturday was significant for trainer Kayla Jane Coleman, and her tiny 24.5kg "pocket rocket" can make it a double at headquarters this week.
Vivid Memory handled her box seven draw to perfection when she won in a smart 29.87 on Saturday, so looks well positioned in box eight in Thursday's Ladbrokes Blackbook Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.
An unexpected error occurred.
After Saturday's win Coleman said: "Vivid Memory is a daughter of Memory Remains, who was a litter sister to my good bitches Cardiology and Where Art Thou.
"I raced their mother Amnesia, so it makes me very proud to win in town with a third-generation greyhound I have trained.''
Cardiology won 20 races and earned $96,000 while her sister, Where Art Thou, amassed $117,000 through 21 racetrack victories.
Vivid Memory could strip even fitter this week as after last Saturday's win, Coleman remarked: "She was a bit underdone when she finished second at Wentworth Park on April 17, so I expected her to go a little better this week.''
