Consigliere Will Take Care Of Business

Magic Bandit set Wentworth Park alight last Saturday night, but trainer Andy Lord insists that dog's litter brother and kennelmate, Consigliere, is faster.

Consigliere, who was unplaced in two Wentworth Park races in August, returns to headquarters when he exits box two in Thursday night's Ladbrokes Bet Ticker 520m fifth grade.

Consigliere has won each of two races since resuming from a spell, scoring over 440m at Goulburn on October 31 and November 7.

Andy Lord, co-trainer of Consigliere with his wife Jodie, said: "This dog doesn't turn two until December 31 and is only just figuring out what this racing caper is all about.

"He is well drawn near the fence on Thursday and we expect him to run a big race.''

Meanwhile, Magic Bandit has drawn box one in Thursday's Redden Photo Video Race Images Stakes, over 520m, and while he will be tackling one of the strongest fifth grades of 2025, he can win if he reproduces his sizzling 29.51 effort from last Saturday.

Magic Bandit recorded a smart first split of 5.43 in that win but has gone even faster at Wentworth Park, clocking a blistering 5.39 from box two on October 2.

The Lord kennel has six strong chances on Thursday and Andy Lord believes Bandit Barb is ready to take out the Ladbrokes Blackbook Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

"She has the raw ability to run 29.50 at Wentworth Park but we are still waiting for her to do it in a race,'' Andy Lord said.

"Bandit Barb can run sizzling trials so has been costly to me on the punt, as she didn't win her first race until her fifth start and then she was a $1.55 hotpot.''

Another strong fifth grade on Thursday is The Lids Fly on Ladbrokes Live Channels Stakes, where front-running speedster Overflow Jenny could lead all the way.

Trainer Craig Chappelow said: "She is not overly strong at the end of 520m but is better than her fourth at her only Wentworth Park race on October 4 suggests.

"Overflow Jenny has twice broken 30sec in 520m trials at Wentworth Park and can get under 5.40 for the first split.

"But she can't afford to get any bumps in the early stages because she needs to be in front at the first turn and be able to pinch a bit of a break on her rivals.''

Go Jo Jo has been unplaced at his past four starts but trainer Stuart Hazlett believes he can run a big race in Thursday's 720m Ladbrokes Punter Assist Stakes.

"He is only an average dog but is perfectly drawn in box one and has won twice over 720m at Wentworth Park,'' Hazlett said.

"Go Jo Jo can stay all day, the distance is no trouble for him and he could run 800m.

"In fact I'm disappointed they no longer stage marathon races over 1000m or more because they would suit him.''

Sabina Sparkles, a litter sister to group one winner Eriza Sparkles, could open her Wentworth Park account from box seven in the Ladbrokes Mates Mode Pots 520m fifth grade

She was beaten 11 lengths into third place in King Of Gods' race at Wentworth Park on Saturday night and trainer Mark Forner said: "While she was never going to beat the winner, Sabina Sparkles was unlucky not to finish closer because she was hampered at the first turn.''

Forner's Wentworth Park newcomer Hey Aldo is ideally drawn in box one - against Bandit Barb - in Thursday's Ladbrokes Blackbook Stakes.

"Although he has not raced at Wentworth Park Hey Aldo has had a few trials there and if he jumps cleanly on Thursday he will be competitive,'' Forner said.

"He is capable of clocking a good first sectional time and is beautifully drawn because he likes to rail.

"Take no notice of his last start seventh from box eight at Nowra because he was put out of the race early when another dog failed to take the first turn.''

Best graded runner on Thursday is False Witness, who has box two in the fourth and fifth grade Ladbrokes Sports Bar Stakes, 520m.

False Witness has contested top grade races at his past four Wentworth Park appearances, resulting in a third and a fast finishing 30.06 win from box five on November 1.

The Sam Sultana-trained greyhound is well positioned near the rails this week.
