More Magic For Rowe?

Andrew Rowe, who won last year's Magic Maiden final with Taw Galaxy (pictured), has nine unraced youngsters, closely related to his 2025 winner, tackling Thursday night's five heats of the Group 3 event.

Rowe has Taw Activate and Summer Angel in boxes four and seven in heat one, Shrewd (box one) and Taw Unbound (three) in heat two, Taw Mystique (one) and Winter Key (seven) in heat three, Creative Key (seven) in heat four and Bohemian Lass and Ovation Key in boxes one and two in the fifth heat.

"These pups are from the first litter whelped by Summer Key, who won 16 races for me and who is out of my brood bitch Wayang Angel, the dam of last year's Magic Maiden winner Taw Galaxy,'' Andrew Rowe said.

"Last year I had four of Wayang Angel's litter by  Wow in the Magic Maiden heats including Taw Major, who also reached the final."

"Taw Galaxy and Taw Major have now both won 11 races at Wentworth Park and I'm confident these youngsters I have in on Thursday are going to make the grade.

"I have done the hard yards leading up to this series because each of my nine runners has had five trials at Wenty, so they certainly know their way around."

"They have all trialled well but the fastest have been Taw Activate, Taw Unbound and Winter Key, followed by Summer Angel and Taw Mystique.

"I could have started them all at my local tracks Nowra or Goulburn well before now but because they showed plenty of ability I kept them for the Magic Maiden.''

Jodie and Andy Lord won Magic Maiden finals in 2021 with Bandit Ned and two years later with One Hot Bandit and they are strongly represented in Thursday night's in heats.

The Gunning trainers have Baby Face Bandit and Stomp Rocker in boxes one and two in heat one, Bandit Abe and Stomper Romper in seven and eight in heat two, Stomp Shuffle (two) and Box Fly Bandit (eight) in heat three, Pretty Boy Floyd (four) and Do The Stomp (five) in heat four, and Awesome Bandit (three) and Hotlips Houlihan (eight) in heat five.

Baby Face Bandit, Bandit Abe, Box Fly Bandit, Pretty Boy Floyd, Awesome Bandit and Hotlips Houlihan are by the Irish import One Time Only, who was brought to Australia by Andy Lord after winning a pair of group 1 races in his home country.

"These pups we have in the Magic Maiden will be the first of One Time Only's progeny to hit the track.

"All of our entries have ability, otherwise Jodie and I would not have saved them for this race.

"But I'd say Bandit Abe and Pretty Boy Floyd, who are both sons of our champion race bitch She's A Pearl, are our best chances.''

Phil Cini, 74, has raced greyhounds for 60 years and rarely comes to Wentworth Park these days, but has a chance with the speedy Valley Cash, who has box five in Thursday's eighth race, a 520m fifth grade.

"Valley Cash has not been to Wentworth Park since December but she can show good early pace and I think this is a 'winnable' race for her,'' Cini said.

"At her last start, over 520m at Richmond, she came out humming but found the winner, Zipping Zeppelin, too strong in the run home.

"I decided to put Valley Cash in at Wentworth Park because she has been racing Wenty class dogs at Richmond so I figured I might as well come to town to chase the bigger prizemoney.

"Although she is a very good railer she can handle box five and has been placed in each of her three starts from that draw.''

Best bet on Thursday should be She's Mayhem, who has box eight in the 520m fifth grade Wentworth Park Sports Bar Stakes.

She's Mayhem is a dual Wenty winner while none of her rivals has won at the track, and with a personal best time of 29.62, she is the only runner to have broken 30sec at headquarters.

Best Bet She's Mayhem (race 7)
Best Value Valley Cash (race 8)
