Wedding Bells And A Wenty Win?

Elsa Above posted her best Wentworth Park time of 29.73 when she won from box eight last month and will wear the pink rug again in Saturday night's We Stand With Tasmania 520m fifth grade, where she is the fastest Wenty winner.

Elsa Above led throughout when she clocked a slick 29.73 on March 26 before finishing second, from the less suitable box two, behind Condo Bandit in 29.68 last Saturday night.

Her trainer Ricky Brewer said: "She did not have a perfect preparation before last Saturday's race.

"Reason was she was drawn as first reserve for a heat of the Ausure Ultra Sense at Wentworth Park on April 5 but did not gain a start.

"So she went without a race for 16 days leading up to last Saturday night which is why I think she can improve this week.

"I train Elsa Above for Kirralee Woodhead and her partner Luke Anderson, who was part-owner of Ando's Mac, the 2016 Group One Vic Peters Classic and Melbourne Cup winner.

"Kirralee and Luke are getting married next week so it would be timely for Elsa Above to get the cash on Saturday night and give them an early wedding present.

"Elsa Above is perfectly boxed on Saturday so she just needs to use the draw the way she can, because she is endowed with plenty of early pace.''

Ross Davidson, who bred Victoria's dual Group One winner Slick Splits, will be at Wentworth Park on Saturday with that brilliant greyhound's litter sister Foxy Barbella.

She has box one in the Wentworth Park Encouragement fifth grade over 520m, and according to Davidson she is usually a good beginner with early speed.

"Foxy Barbella has been with Slick Splits' trainer Tom Dailly in Melbourne but after she disappointed in races at The Meadows and Sandown in February and March it was decided to send her back to me in NSW,'' Davidson said.

"Foxy Barbella knows her way around Wenty because she was unplaced in a Million Dollar Chase qualifier there last October.

"After that she went back to Melbourne and won her next start at Ballarat in smart time so if she jumps away well from box one on Saturday I'll be disappointed if she doesn't go close to winning.''

Maitland Cup winner Black Myth Wave has missed the jump when unplaced at his past two Wentworth Park appearances but should only need to step away cleanly to win on Saturday night.

The Vic Sultana-trained dog has his favourite draw, box eight, in the Wenty Leagues fourth and fifth grade over 520m.

He recorded a flying 29.41 in winning from box eight at Wentworth Park on March 21 and went even quicker from the same draw, clocking 29.36 at headquarters on February 28.

After the March 21 win Black Myth Wave was skittled soon after the start when fourth, from box four on March 28, before bungling the jump when unplaced from inside draws on April 4 and last Saturday night.

But Black Myth Wave is partial to box eight and has not only registered his two fastest Wentworth Park times while wearing the pink rug, but also clocking a fast 29.28 winning from the outside alley over 515m at Gosford.

Fabricator missed the start but was still able to clock fastest time in his heat of the Taree to Wenty Series on April 8 and looks the one to beat in Saturday night's 520m final.

After dwelling at the start at Taree, the Beau Micallef-trained dog was hampered slightly rounding the first turn but came away to win by six lengths, covering the 525m in 30.28, best time of the day.

He has drawn box two in Saturday night's Wentworth Park final where his sole danger looms as Simplicity Magic, who clocked 30.34 in his Taree heat win from box seven.

Simplicity Magic was second early and took the lead on the back straight in his Taree heat win, but while he has drawn box one on Saturday night he has not won in six previous assignments while wearing the red rug.

Most open race on Saturday's card is the top grade Ken Bell Memorial over 520m, with Late In Winter (box one), Foreign Capital (two), Both Bowers Ace (four), Taw Galaxy (seven) and Ritza Tears (eight) certain to have backing.

But the draw favours Nicole Wallace's brilliant beginner Late In Winter, who posted electrifying early splits of 5.34, 13.62 and 17.70 in his all-the-way win in last Saturday night's Ausure Ultra Sense at Wentworth Park.
