Reborn Hostility not only clocked fastest time of Saturday night's trio of group 3 Ladies Bracelet heats at Wentworth Park but came from last going into the first turn in the process.
Owned by Anthony Orley and with her relatively new trainer Jay Opetaia, Reborn Hostility was last approaching the corner and still fourth at the half-way mark before rocketing home along the fence to win heat one in 29.67.
Gudrid made the pace from box seven but raced wide and allowed Reborn Hostility to get up along the rails and hit the front approaching the home turn.
Reborn Hostility's stamina has never been in doubt and she won over 622m at Richmond in a fast 35.43 in October but after being unplaced twice over 720m at Wentworth Park connections have focussed on shorter races with her.
After Saturday night's eye-catching win, Reborn Hostility's owner Anthony Orley paid tribute to trainer Jay Opetaia, saying: "He has definitely improved her.
"And she seems really happy being in Jay's kennels.
"Reborn Hostility copped a couple of bumps in races earlier in her career and lost her confidence, but she has regained it completely now.
"However she does all need to find rails runs, because the way Reborn Hostility races means she drops out to near last early and then powers along the inside of the field.
"She managed to secure a clear run tonight.''
Reborn Hostility's run home figures on Saturday were a sensational 11.47.
Second fastest Bracelet heat winner was Elsa Above, who posted slick early sectional times of 5.38 and 13.66 in winning heat three by two lengths in 29.78.
Trainer Ricky Brewer said later: "She got off the track a bit at the first turn but that's something she always tends to do.
"But I think she is capable of still finding a bit on the clock.''
Heat two was taken out by the Courtney Barnes-trained Zipping Kayli, who overcame a slow start to edge out pacemaker Foxtrot Ethics by a nose in 29.91.
Peter Rodgers, who trained the 2023 Golden Easter Egg winner Simply Limelight, landed heat one of the group three Bob Payne Sprint on Saturday night with Classic Ethics in 29.65.
Classic Ethics flashed along the rails from fourth on the home bend to win by a nose from tearaway pacemaker Red Rock Razzle, trained by Jay Opetaia and a kennelmate of Reborn Hostility.
Wenty's most consistently smart beginning front runner Late In Winter won the other Bob Payne heat in 29.66, refusing to give in and holding off Taw Galaxy by a three quarters of length.
Taw Galaxy is trained by Andrew Rowe, who also qualified for next week's $25,000 to the winner Bob Payne final with Taw Major, minor placegetter in heat one.
Hera Rolex will soon tackle a middle distance following her powerful finish to win a 520m fifth grade on Saturday in 29.86.
Golden Easter Egg finalist Canya Handle It set a scorching pace but Hera Rolex, a distant third on the back straight, stormed down the outside to win by a length.
After the race Hera Rolex's trainer Jason Mackay said: "That was a big effort because she was giving a Golden Easter Egg finalist five or six lengths start at the half way mark.
"I will bring Hera Rolex back to Wentworth Park for one more race and then take her to The Gardens for a 600m event.''
Easiest win of the night was the nine lengths romp by the Graeme Hughes-trained Elle's Moon in the Wagga to Wentworth Park Final.
Elle's Moon was second early but after grabbing the lead on the back straight bolted away to score in 29.92.
That was the first Wentworth Park success for the winner, who had been placed in five of 12 previous outings at headquarters.
Elle's Moon is bred to be a star, as her dam Springview Sugar, who won six races for $18,000, is a full sister to the great She's A Pearl, who earned $1.7 million after winning 39 of 64 starts.
