The Board of Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) have endorsed an extension to the increase of travel subsidies to participants to help offset the continuing rise in fuel prices across the state.

In March this year following the outbreak in the Middle East, the GRNSW Board acted immediately to help its participants by increasing travel subsidies to trainers taking one greyhound to a race meeting by 66%.

The increases took effect immediately with travel subsidies for participants taking one greyhound to a race meeting increasing from $60 to $100. For those with multiple greyhounds, they received $60 per greyhound.

The total investment in the additional travel subsidy support by GRNSW through to this extended period is expected to be more than $180,000. The travel subsidy has been broadly received with racing statistics indicating an average of up to 45% of participants at a race meeting travel with one greyhound.

GRNSW announced at the time that the increase would be reassessed at the end of April, and the Board have now decided to extend the increase until May 31, 2026 where it will again be subject to a reassessment at that time.
