Winter Key and her litter brother Taw Unbound have completely different racing traits but the Andrew Rowe-trained pair have drawn perfectly at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.
They are by Feral Franky from Summer Key, a 16-time winner for Rowe and who is a half sister to his crack sprinters Taw Galaxy and Taw Major, who have won 35 races.
Winter Key has box one in the We Stand With Tasmania 520m fifth grade while Taw Unbound will jump from box eight in the identical class gapnsw.com.au Stakes over the same journey.
"She managed to run down Neil Staines' Galba Model at the half-way mark but was caught on the line by that greyhound and beaten a head.
"I thought her run was awesome, her best yet, and a good pointer to her chances this week.''
West Rock Casey, a litter brother to Caroline Hughes' top class stayers Late Night News and Vodka And Ice, should relish a drop in class at WP on Saturday night.
West Rock Casey has been placed in two of his past four starts in top or third and fourth grade races at Richmond and WP but is down to fourth and fifth class in Saturday's Rohrig Appreciation Stakes, 520m.
"He is three-and-a-half now so West Rock Casey hasn't got that early burn to match strides with the top graders,'' trainer Caroline Hughes said.
"And although he is very strong at the end of 520m, he isn't able to give those top class greyhounds a start and a beating.
"Saturday's race definitely looks winnable for West Rock Casey.
"He is still going well and I'm rapt seeing him in box eight because that is the draw that suits him most at Wentworth Park.''
New Surprise only needed another stride to run down Mighty Henry when beaten in a tight photo finish at her first WP race on July 2 and gets her chance to break through for her first city win in Saturday's Wenty Leagues 520m fifth grade.
Trainer Leo Vanderburg said: "I had given New Surprise two trials at WP before her first race last week but I still think that run will improve her.
"It usually takes dogs a couple of looks at Wenty before they find their best form so I was happy with her close second placing.
"She has box four on Saturday but having an empty box outside her is a bonus, it always helps.''
Most open race on Saturday is the top grade Mark Hughes Appreciation Stakes, 520m, featuring Foreign Capital (box two), Ritza Tiana (three), Magic Bandit (four), Wyndra All Heart (seven) and brilliant beginner Late In Winter in box eight.
Ritza Tiana was runner-up in last Saturday's group one Peter Mosman Opal while Magic Bandit and Wyndra All Heart have won 12 and 10 WP races respectively.
But the draw points to Foreign Capital returning to the winning list after being runner-up at his past three WP outings in similar company.
Foreign Capital has not won at WP since May but has won 11 races at headquarters and finished only a length behind the winner at each of his three most recent appearances.
Pax Bostonia, who has box one, lacks early pace and Ritza Tiana in box three, is not usually fast from the starting traps, so Foreign Capital should only need to step cleanly to be prominent and in a winning position at the first bend.
