Federal Sniper, who had compiled a remarkable record of 14 wins from 18 starts on other tracks, made a stunning Wentworth Park debut on Saturday night.
Trained by Jason Mackay, Federal Sniper headed Dark Cinnamon going into the first corner and raced away to score by five lengths in a sizzling 29.49.
The winner is raced by the Benjes family, who owned the 2018 Young Star winner Federal Lilly, and after Saturday's win Mackay was full of praise for Federal Sniper.
"That was the first time he had come out of the 520m boxes at Wenty and he will get even better,'' Mackay said.
"His second split tonight was 13.62 and I once trained a bitch called Zipping Willow who won 20 of 28 Wenty starts and she could run 13.59.
"I'm not saying Federal Sniper is going to be as good as Zipping Willow but early in his career like this it is a promising sign.
"What I like about Federal Sniper is that although he drew the rails tonight, boxes won't matter much to him because he is such a fearless chaser.
"This dog has plenty of 'ticker' and if he gets a bump he just keeps going, he won't give up.''
Mackay came to Wentworth Park with two greyhounds on Saturday night and also won in 29.67 with Impress Moana, who has now had four wins and a second in five starts since joining the trainer's Hunter Valley kennels.
The other "find" from Saturday's card was Bentley Red, who followed his 29.62 heat win with a 13 lengths winning romp in the Arthur Collier Memorial final, stopping the clock at a super slick 29.53.
Trainer Peter Lagogiane said: "Bentley Red only joined my kennel two months ago after being a bit disappointing in some races in Queensland.
"He has really clicked down here as he clocked 17.50 in a Richmond 324m straight track trial and then in a post-to-post slip at Wenty he recorded a very smart 23.88.
"His run home tonight was an extremely impressive 11.58.''
Fastest time of the night was posted by the exciting Reborn Hostility, who once again gave those who took the short odds about her plenty of anxious moments.
Trained by Daniel Gatt, Reborn Hostility was, as usual, near the rear of the field in the early stages before giving pacemaker Late In Winter, and then home turn leader Flash Ethics, a huge start at the half-way mark.
Reborn Hostility flashed home to score by a half head in 29.47, time just .17sec outside her personal best Wentworth Park figures.
Hobby trainer Brett Smith, a train guard who has a small team of greyhounds, had a night to remember when he landed a winning double with Towering Earl in 29.92 and Prescot in 30.05.
The Hallinan family, who raced Jason Mackay's former prolific Wentworth Park winner Zipping Willow, were in the winner's circle on Saturday when Zipping Alita, trained by Mick Hardman, won in a smart 29.78.
Zipping Alita, who doesn't turn two until late November, is a daughter of the Hallinans' 2019 Golden Easter Egg winner Zipping Bailey, who was trained by Jason Mackay.
