Flash Boom Bang's fastest Wentworth Park 520m time of 29.43 and his sensational personal best run home of 11.26 gives him the proverbial "minute" on his rivals in Thursday night's Wenty Leagues M3 Masters at headquarters.
Flash Boom Bang, whose career was severely interrupted 12 months ago by a stopper bone injury, is a recent addition to the veteran ranks and owner-trainer Brian Jaggers is setting him for the October 8 heats of the $50,000 to the winner Masters Meteor.
The dog has won two of his past four starts, over 400m and 457m at Bulli in smart times, and was a good fourth in the top grade Temora Cup at his latest appearance on September 1.
"Despite his age and the big setback he suffered the dog is going terrific.” Brian Jaggers said.
"Providing he stands up the Masters Meteor is his goal.”
"We all know Flash Boom Bang has a big motor, and he did run home officially in 11.26 in July, 2024.”
"If he gets to the front at any stage on Thursday night they won't be beating him.”
Flash Boom Bang is not averse to racing in the middle of the track so box five so hold no fear for the dog as he seeks win his first Wentworth Park race since late July, 2024.
A greyhound named Beaver Menzies, who was owned by Sea Eagles fanatic Danny Day, won eight races between 2011 and 2013 and now another dog called after the famous Manly-Warringah second rower will make his Wentworth Park debut on Thursday night.
The "new" Beaver Menzies has box one in the Simply Limelight Gosford to Wenty final, 520m, after winning his heat over 515m on September 8 in 29.61.
Beaver Menzies is trained by Peter Rodgers, who prepared Simply Limelight, now at stud after winning the 2023 Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park.
Fastest qualifiers for Thursday's final are Magical Ang, who won in 29.35, and Kalimera, who clocked 29.47, but Beaver Menzies was unlucky not to go quicker as he stumbled at box rise before grabbing the lead just before the first turn.
He looks ideally positioned on the rails, but Magical Ang has the advantage of greater Wentworth Park experience, where she has won seven of 18 starts and clocked a slick 29.60.
Winter Key is conceding Wentworth Park experience to several rivals in Thursday's Life Member Margaret Enright 520m fifth grade but trainer Andrew Rowe believes her good draw can offset that.
Winter Key had box two when she came from third on the back straight to run down Mick Boots and then easily hold off Pay Keeping to win in a slick 29.69 at Wentworth Park last Thursday and has the same draw again.
Andrew Rowe said, "She is a bit hit or miss at the start because she plays up in the boxes.”
"But she is as strong as an ox so if Winter Key gets away reasonably well, she should be hard to beat.
"Apparently Entertainer who has box three tends to get wide so that might help her.”
Leading trainer Jodie Lord has three runners in Thursday's Life Member Bryan Young 720m fourth and fifth grade but is expected to win with Stilton Shine.
Her husband Andy Lord said, "Stilton Shine is ideally placed in box one and she should be winning again.”
Stilton Shine has won each of her past two Wentworth Park 720m tests while wearing the red jacket and she has won those two races by six and four lengths respectively.
Her kennelmates Fleeing (box four) and Dazzle You (box five) are making their long-distance debuts at Wentworth Park.
