The annual Greyhound Racing NSW Puppy Auction has again proved a success with sales totalling more than $1.12 million.
A total of 153 lots went through the Auction at Richmond Race Club on Sunday, with a very healthy average of $7,300.
There were 39 lots sold for $10,000 and over, and four greyhounds went for more than $30,000.
The sale-topper was the beautifully bred dog by Bernardo out of Group 1 winner Good Odds Cash which was sold for $37,000.

He was the last of three pups from that litter offered by Frank and Tracey Hurst, the other pair going for $31,000 (pictured in header image) and $30,000.
The other sale above $30,000 was a bitch by Fernando Bale out of Rasheda, the dam of Wentworth Park track record holder Dalwhinne, which was sold for $35,000.

“Once again it showed today there is definitely a place for the annual Auction from the perspective of both vendors and buyers,” GRNSW Chief Executive Officer Steve Griffin said.
“The event was very well attended, and the high-end pups reached high-end prices.
“But what was pleasing was that there were pups available for all budgets and that’s exactly what we want as we look to entice new people to join our industry.
“The industry and our participants have again supported this event, and shown there is a genuine appetite for an annual Auction, and while that appetite is there, we will continue to stage the event.
“I don’t think anyone was too surprised that the Good Odds Cash pups were the among the top lots, but according to several people at the Auction, there were plenty of bargains to be found.”

Pups purchased at today’s Auction are now exclusively eligible for the GRNSW Puppy Classic Series which will be held in November next year.
The inaugural Puppy Classic for pups bought at the 2024 Auction, will be staged in November this year with prizemoney of $150,000 to the winner, making the event the fourth most lucrative in NSW behind only the Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase ($1 million), the Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg ($300,000), and the Ladbrokes 715 ($250,000).
While this year’s Auction fell shy of the $1.27 million sales at last year’s inaugural event, it must be remembered that $207,000 of last year’s sales were the impeccably bred, four She’s A Pearl pups.
Among the other top lots today was a dog by Barcia Bale out of Analysing which went for $21,000 and a dog by Tommy Shelby out of Silver Scissors, the dam of the brilliant youngster Gold Force, which went for $20,000.
