Vonnie's Power turned three in February but the lightly-raced winner of three races at Wentworth Park is going as well as ever, according to her trainer Mark Gatt.
She has not raced since November when she scored two wins - including a personal best 29.61 performance, and a second from three Wentworth Park appearances.
Vonnie's Power has box three in Thursday night's Ladbrokes Mates Mode Pots Stakes, a 520m fifth grade, and was cleared to resume racing after trialling over 520m at Richmond on May 21 in a modest 30.04.
An unexpected error occurred.
"She has had just 15 starts for three wins and 10 placings but is one of those greyhounds who always seems to have something wrong with her,'' Mark Gatt said.
"Apart from a succession of little niggling ailments she also had a seasonal spell.
"But she is going every bit as good as when she clocked 29.61 at Wenty late last year.''
Vonnie's Power has not previously had box three but has shown her liking for being drawn near the rails by recording three wins and three placings in six outings from boxes one and two.
Box one can be tricky at Wentworth Park but Promises Three's trainer Steven Jones is happy seeing his bitch set to wear the red rug in Thursday's Ladbrokes Bet Ticker Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.
An unexpected error occurred.
Promises Three has had only two races in 2025 and was resuming from a spell of nine weeks when she led all the way from box one for a brilliant win over 472m at Bulli on May 20.
Jones said: "I know box one can be a bit awkward at Wentworth Park, but I far prefer seeing her there than out in box seven or eight.
"Promises Three has her box, she loves the fence.
"Her Bulli win, when she clocked 26.24, was surprisingly good because she went into that race slightly under-done.''
Promises Three is the only greyhound in Thursday's race to have broken 30sec at Wentworth Park, and she posted a flying 29.46 - from box one - on October 13.
Alakazam is making his long-distance debut at Wentworth Park in Thursday's Ladbrokes Same Race Multi 720m fourth and fifth grade, but trainer Adam Crouch is confident the dog will be able to stay the distance.
An unexpected error occurred.
"When he races, his last section is usually as good as his first split, and he pulls up very clean-winded,'' Crouch said.
"I'm not worried about his wide draw because Alakazam is a reliable beginner, his chances depend on whether there is a lot of early pace around him.
"I gave him a box-to-box long distance trial at Wentworth Park two weeks ago and his first section was 16.17, time which should allow him to be up near the early lead if he repeats it on Thursday night.''
Alakazam was sent out a $2 favourite in a particularly strong Richmond 622m event at his most recent outing when he chased home Zig Zag Man in a sizzling 35.42.
Among the greyhounds finishing behind him in that strong race were West Rock Casey and Zipping Hasler, both smart Wentworth Park 520m winners.
The Jason Magri-trained pair Allan Keeping and Robert Keeping have each won their past four Wentworth Park races but the litter brothers will clash in Thursday's Mark Hughes Foundation third and fourth grade over 520m.
An unexpected error occurred.
Because Robert Keeping tends to use a bit of the track, the draw favours Allan Keeping, who has box three, with his brother to exit box four.
