His most recent Wentworth Park winners were He's A Bridge and Autumn Cloud, who gave Board a winning double on February 2 last year.
Rick, who was also the great-uncle of recent Group One winning trainer Jay Opetaia, got into greyhounds when he and his brother, Greg, owned a service station at Green Point, near Gosford, 50 years ago.

Scott Board recalled: "A greyhound trainer used to call in there to fill up his van on the way to Gosford dogs and talked them into going to a race meeting there.
"It wasn't long before they were both training greyhounds themselves.
"Rick had some wonderful dogs including Splinter Lad, winner of 30 races, and Black Soldier, who won 40 races including a Waterloo Cup behind the drag lure in Victoria as well as finishing second in a Gold Coast Cup on the old Parklands track at Southport.
"Another of his dogs, Almost Perfect, won 10 races at Wentworth Park and was a finalist in a Group One Silver Chief in Melbourne.
"His most successful day at the track was at Wagga around 20 years ago when Rick had a runner in each of the eight races and won seven of them.
"The Fireman was the best of the eight dogs he took to Wagga that day but he was the only one that got beaten, he finished third.
"More recently Rick owned Armed And Ready, who was sent to Melbourne after winning a performance trial at Bathurst in 2014.
"Armed And Ready won 16 of 38 races in Melbourne, including a 29.18 performance at Sandown, where he finished up being trained by Brooke Ennis.''
Rick Board is survived by his sons Terry, Denny, Chris and Stephen, while a fifth son, Brett, is deceased.
GRNSW wishes to extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late Richard Board.
