Vacant Box Plays Into Crazed’s Paws

Crazed relishes having room to move on his outside so trainer Craig Chappelow is understandably pleased to see an empty box on his dog's right in Saturday night's 520m gapnsw.com.au Stakes at Wentworth Park.

Crazed has box four and Chappelow said: "I reckon his prospects get a terrific boost on Saturday because box five is vacant."

Crazed

"This is a maximum 200 points fifth grade and Crazed just scraped into being eligible, so he is well placed.

"He started odds-on at Bulli on Monday after he ran a couple of fast trials there and at Dapto but he had no luck in the race.

"Crazed jumped well from box one but a speedster on his outside cut to the rails soon after the start and gave  my dog a bit of grief.''

Crazed was knocked back to be fifth on the home bend on Monday, but rattled home at the end of the 400m trip to be beaten less than two lengths, so will appreciate the additional 120m of Saturday's Wentworth Park event.

Another greyhound looking well graded on Saturday night is Still Available, who has box two in the Ladbrokes Punter Assist Stakes, another 520m maximum 200 points fifth grade.

Still Available has been unplaced in five races since winning a fourth and fifth grade at Wentworth Park in June, but is going well according to trainer Garry Coles.

"He has been taken out early in his past couple of Wenty runs and punters should forget his seventh up the straight at Richmond on July 24,'' Coles said.

"Straight tracks do not suit Still Available anywhere near as much as racing around bends and being in an early event, race two, is a bonus for him on Saturday night.

"Still Available plays up a treat in the kennels on race night so being in the 7.28 race should help him a lot.

"Since his most recent race Still Available has trialled well over 401m at Richmond and in a post-to-post hit-out at that track.

"If he has a problem on Saturday night it will be his lack of brilliance for the first 10 metres.''

Still Available has won a dozen races at Wentworth Park while his six rivals have managed a total of 16 wins at headquarters.

Unluckiest unplaced runner at Wentworth Park last Saturday was Taw Major, who finished fourth from box seven in a 520m fifth grade.

He gets his chance to atone from box eight in Saturday's Ladbrokes Quick Multi Stakes, also a 520m fifth grade.

"Last Saturday Taw Major was disputing the lead at the first turn when a dog on his left ran wide and virtually put him out of business,'' trainer Andrew Rowe said.

"Then he got checked again soon after so to still finish fourth was a big effort.

"I would prefer Taw Major drawn inside but he is a pretty adaptable and won from box eight at Wentworth Park two runs ago on July 31.''

Canya Not has won six of nine starts on provincial tracks in dashing style but has had no luck when unplaced in each of three Wentworth Park appearances.

She has box seven in Saturday's @wentworthparkgreyhounds maximum 200 points 520m fifth grade and trainer Joe McFadyen said: "Canya Not can handle an outside box but her chances depend on what the dogs drawn around her do in the early stages."

"She has been knocked around in each of her three Wentworth Park races so needs to get her confidence back.

"Canya Not has a lot of ability but if she finds trouble again this week I will probably keep her away from Wenty for a while.''

Best bet on Saturday should be Ritza Kris, who was the only greyhound to break 30sec in the heats of the 520m GBOTA Maiden on August 7.

Ritza Kris led throughout from box four in her heat and has drawn nicely in box two in Saturday's Maiden Final.

Miss Bansky ran a cheeky race when second at her Wentworth Park long-distance debut on August 7 and from box one appeals as Saturday's best value wager in the Wenty Leagues Stakes, a 1-4 wins 720m fifth grade.

She challenged hot favourite I'm Sally, the pacemaker, during the race and while that greyhound drew away to win by 10 lengths, Miss Bansky hung on gamely to finish second, ahead of more experienced stayers Prowess, Winifred Nora and Mister O'Brien.
