Box One Boost for Blue Goose Boy

Blue Goose Boy's strike rate and 520m times at Wentworth Park suggest only extremely bad luck can stop him from scoring this 20th win on Thursday night.

Blue Goose Boy has box one in the Redden Photo M2/M3 Masters event and with 13 of his 19 wins being at Wentworth Park, his tally there is well ahead of his nearest Thursday night rival Freydis, who has won six races at the track.

Freydis, with a personal best Wentworth Park time of 29.93, is the only one of Blue Goose Boy's opponents to have broken 30sec at headquarters, but even her quickest figures are almost half a second slower than his 29.47, posted in September last year.

Trainer Caroline Hughes said: "This looks a good race for Blue Goose Boy and he should go close to winning as long as none of the other dogs trip him up.

"Last Saturday at Wentworth Park he finished fifth to Father Rick but the winner clocked 29.66, ridiculously fast time for a Masters greyhound.''

While Blue Goose Boy stands out as the best bet of the night, Thursday's top value looms as another well graded dog, Ayden's Warrior, who has box four in the 520m Ladbrokes Srm In Multi Stakes.

This is a fourth and fifth grade event and Ayden's Warrior has won each of his past two assignments in this class.

He will be suited by the small field of six and none of Ayden's Warrior's rivals has come even close to his best Wentworth Park time of 29.31.

Ayden's Warrior is a kennelmate of boom youngster Consigliere, who has box one in Thursday's Ladbrokes Bet Ticker Stakes, a 1-2 wins 520m fifth grade.

Andy Lord, whose wife Jodie trains Consigliere, conceded they were disappointed with the dog's distant seventh at his Wentworth Park debut on August 14.

Consigliere, who was fastest qualifier for the Zoom Top Maiden Classic at Goulburn, had been sent out as a $1.65 favourite but after missing the start and finding trouble was with the rear division throughout.

Andy Lord said: "Consigliere has won every field trial we have ever given him and if he jumps cleanly on Thursday we will see how good he is.

"While he can be over-keen at times, this is a group class greyhound, don't worry about that.''

Consigliere

Consigliere will be thoroughly tested on Thursday by Sporty Ethics, who has been placed in each of five Wentworth Park appearances but who has shown sharp improvement in the past six weeks.

The Peter Rodgers-trained bitch led all the way over 515m at Gosford on July 22 in a sizzling 29.41 before clocking a smart 29.64 via a five lengths winning romp there on August 19.

Sporty Ethics is well drawn in box two as Ritza Kris, unbeaten in two Wentworth Park races, has box three and she tends to race towards the centre of the track.

Rattlin' Bye has a good chance of landing her first Wentworth Park win in five attempts when she exits box two in Thursday's Ladbrokes Sports Bar Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

She made the pace from box seven when beaten narrowly by Blazing Warrior in 30.13 at Wentworth Park last Saturday night and trainer Brian Mitchell is happy with her box two draw on Thursday.

"If Rattlin' Bye can cross Betty Emgrand, who has box one, and beat her to the first turn, she has a good show,'' Mitchell said.

"Last Saturday Rattlin' Bye did not come out as quickly as she can and she did get a slight check when she crossed to the rails from box eight.''
