Draw Makes It A Dunn Deal

Scatter Dunn has not won a race for six months but gets a golden opportunity to notch his third Wentworth Park win when he exits a favourable box two draw in Saturday night's Ladbrokes Wentworth Park Encouragement 520m fifth grade.

He is the only runner to have broken 30sec at Wentworth Park, clocking 29.78 from box one on January 18.

In three races from box one in January and March at Wentworth Park, Scatter Dunn scored that slick win along with a pair of second placings, when he stopped the clock at 30.02 and 29.88.

The Jay Opetaia-trained dog finished a distant fourth at Wentworth Park last Saturday night but the run was far better that it looks on paper.

After totally bungling the start from box eight, Scatter Dunn was skittled by a wide runner at the first turn and came from last to beat all but the placegetters.

The promising Isle Of Lachlan, who has had five wins and three placings from eight appearances at the provincials, makes his Wentworth Park debut in Saturday's We Stand With Tasmania 520m fifth grade.

Trainer Troy MacDonald said: "I gave Isle Of Lachlan his first look at Wentworth Park with a trial after the final race last Saturday night and he went nicely.

"He didn't break any records but I was happy with how he went because he did plenty wrong in the hit-out, he got lost going through the catching pen.

"Although I don't think we will see the best of him for another three months he has plenty of upside about him.

"Isle Of Lachlan has decent early pace and when he finished second, at his most recent start at Gosford on November 11, he was tackling 515m for the first time.

"He clocked 29.61 getting beaten and that time wins a lot of 515m races there.''

No greyhound is more deserving of a Wentworth Park win than Fancy Lena, who has been placed in six of her seven appearances at headquarters.

She gets her chance after drawing box one in Saturday's Ladbrokes Srm In Multis 520m fifth grade.

Trainer Lakis Michael said: "Fancy Lena is perfectly drawn and is in better form than at any other time in her career.

"She is usually a good beginner so should go close to scoring her first Wenty win on Saturday.''

Our Mumma Jo was an eye-catching third behind Winsome Jet and Big Bernie in her Wentworth Park debut on November 13 and has a good chance of scoring her 11th win in just 20 starts on Saturday.

The John Grief-trained bitch has box three in The Lids Fly on Ladbrokes Live Channels 520m fifth grade, and her trainer is satisfied with the draw.

"Our Mumma Jo is not a brilliant railer and likes to use a bit of the track,'' Grief said.

"So I don't mind seeing her drawn anywhere from boxes three to six.

"Before she raced at Wentworth Park last week I trialled her over 520m there and she clocked a nippy 29.90.

"Then in her race, Our Mumma Jo ran a smart first split of 5.42 yet was unable to be the pacemaker.

"If she reproduces those figures on Saturday she has a good chance of being in front, although Peter Lagogiane's bitch, Unleash Shirley, who has box five, will be hard to hold out.''

Mount Barker lacked Wentworth Park experience when third, at his race debut there last Saturday, and only needs to find the rails to be hard to beat in this week's Ladbrokes Mates Mode Pots 520m fifth grade.

Mount Barker has box four and trainer Charlie Micallef said: "He is a handy dog but is not quick early.

"If he can find the fence going around the first corner he is pretty strong and I was pleased with last week's effort.

"It was his fifth placing from his past five starts and it was the first time he had seen Wentworth Park since he was not much more than a puppy.''

Fawn Rupee's seventh, from box eight, at Wentworth Park on November 15 should be discarded when assessing form for Saturday's Ladbrokes Quick Multi 520m fifth grade.

Last week Fawn Rupee was slowly away and was badly checked at the first turn, but he has a good record from inside draws and has box one on Saturday.

Fawn Rupee jumped from box two when he led throughout in a handy 29.99 at Wentworth Park on September 20 after clocking 29.98 from the same draw a month earlier.
