Glen Goodwin, who trained the 2018 Peter Mosman Opal winner Velocity Liberty at Wentworth Park, will unveil his latest promising bitch Zeal Beauty for the first time there on Thursday night.
Zeal Beauty has box two in the 520m fifth grade WP Sports Bar Stakes, and at less than 23 months old Goodwin considers her a star in the making.
"Although she has not raced at Wenty she has had a couple of looks there, I'm not that stupid to put her in without having seen the track,'' Goodwin said.
"Zeal Beauty had two box-to-box trials there before tackling 520m for the first time with a trial at Nowra and she clocked 29.50.
"I was rapt in that and expected her to improve a little when she raced on February 23, but even I was surprised when she won by 13 lengths and recorded 29.15, not far outside the record.
"Her run home was exceptional as well and I figure that time at Nowra equates to around 29.60 at Wentworth Park.
"She had box three at Nowra so is well boxed in two on Thursday.''
There have not been many more impressive first-up Wentworth Park wins than Dennis Keeping's all-the-way performance in a sizzling 29.55 on February 21.
The Jason Magri-trained dog returns to headquarters on Thursday when he exits box eight in the 520m Vale Bruce Fletcher fifth grade.
"I expect him to handle box eight all right,'' trainer Magri said.
"Dennis Keeping drew box eight at Bulli on January 27 and handled it beautifully, winning by seven lengths in a fast 25.87.
"When he won at Wentworth Park late last month he had not been out of the 520m boxes there, he had only had a post-to-post slip and a box-to-box trial.
"Dennis Keeping is a very good dog, I really like him.''
Jungle Johnny finished three lengths behind Foreign Capital when they met in the Richmond Derby final on February 27 but will be backed to reverse the placings in Thursday night's Sponsor A Race top grade 520m event at Wentworth Park.
Foreign Capital had box one when he chased home Cumbria Jack in track record time in the Derby while Jungle Johnny, who had jumped from box two, was three lengths away in third place.
Jungle Johnny beat Foreign Capital out of the boxes but wanted to duck out at the first turn and collided, allowing Foreign Capital to rail into third position on the back straight.
At that point Jungle Johnny was a distant sixth and he took some ground off Foreign Capital in the run home.
Jungle Johnny's best Wentworth Park time is a near record 29.16 while Foreign Capital's personal best is also outstanding as he stopped the clock at 29.37 in June, 2024.
Foreign Capital has box two on Thursday and has won three of his nine races wearing the black and white stripes, while Jungle Johnny has worn the yellow vest just once, winning at Wentworth Park by eight lengths in a slick 29.52 a year ago.
Best bet on Thursday night should be Jungle Johnny's kennelmate Sammy Ethan, who has had 19 wins and 34 placings from 77 Wentworth Park appearances.
Sammy Ethan has box seven in the M2 and M3 Masters Stakes and faces weaker opposition than he has tackled when placed at his past five Wentworth Park starts.
His only serious rival looms as the Michael Galea-trained Woolgoolga Gal, who has box one, the draw she had when she clocked 29.59 at Wentworth Park in July, 2025.
"Although Woolgoolga Gal became eligible for Masters races in mid-January, she has had only 36 starts because she has faced setback after setback,'' Galea said.
"It's been very frustrating because she has so much ability, she has also run 29.41 for 520m at Richmond and 22.13 over 400m at Bulli.''
