Ang To Work Her Magic

Magical Ang should only need to begin cleanly to lead her rivals a merry dance in heat nine of Sunday's Ausure Utra Sense at Wentworth Park.

The Peter Lagogiane-trained bitch, who has box three, boasts the quickest Wentworth Park 520m figures of 29.60 and with six wins at the track, is easily the most successful Wenty performer in the field.

Magic Ang's fastest time was recorded last October when she jumped from the same draw she has on Sunday.

At her most recent appearance Magical Ang missed the jump in a heat of the group one Wheeler Kennels Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park on March 28 but displayed brilliant speed to lead at the first turn.

She remained the pacemaker leaving the back straight but the early effort told in the straight and she weakened to finish fourth, just over four lengths behind the winner Foreign Capital.

Sunday's 520m fifth grade represents a massive drop in class for Magical Ang and she looks the safest bet of the meeting.

Tralaero made an impressive racing debut when he won a heat of the Million Dollar Chase Maiden at Wentworth Park on October 9 but had to be scratched from the remainder of the series.

He returns to Wentworth Park for the first time in Sunday's fifth heat of the Ausure Ultra Sense, and trainer Mitchell Conquest has given the dog every opportunity to again familiarise himself with the track.

"Unfortunately Tralaero tore a groin muscle when he won his MDC Maiden heat so had to be scratched from the final,'' Conquest said.

"But he now knows the track well and truly, becuase I have given him a few post-to-post slips and three box-to-box trials at Wenty recently.

"He has box four on Sunday but Tralaero likes to find the middle of the track when he races.''

Tralaero, who was purchased as a puppy by Conquest's wife Jennefer, goes into Sunday's race boasting the impressive record of five wins from seven races.

There is hardly a more suitably drawn runner on Sunday than Square Up, who has box seven in heat seven of the Ultra Sense.

Square Up, who has had 21 starts at Wentworth Park for four wins and five placings, has won three of his six outings while wearing the black rug.

Trainer Mark Forner said: "I have been setting Square Up for this series and he is well boxed on Sunday.

"When Square Up is on song he has plenty of ability and if he brings his recent Nowra form to Wenty this week he will be hard to beat.''

Skedaddle Arlo has been unplaced at Nowra and Wentworth Park since winning over 630m at Nowra on March 5 but was desperately unlucky on both occasions.

He has box five in Sunday's fourth heat of the Ultra Sense and trainer Mark Suttle said: "The draw isn't great but if Skedaddle Arlo comes out like he can he is capable of running his customary 5.45 first split.

"That should put him right into this race.

"When he finished fourth at Nowra on March 19 he was skittled at the first turn when another dog veered off the track.

"Then, in a heat of the Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park last Saturday, he was again checked on the first corner when a dog on his left shifted towards the outside.''

Skedaddle Arlo's best Wentworth Park time of 29.61 is just .03sec slower than his quickest rival, Classic Ethics, but while that dog has box one he does tend to be a slow beginner.
