Best Surprise has not raced at Wentworth Park since December but trainer Andrew Rowe says she is going "better than ever" as she prepares to tackle Thursday night's 520m fourth and fifth grade at the track.
Best Surprise, who has won two of her four appearances from box one, will wear the red rug in race seven and Rowe said the litter sister to his crack duo Taw Galaxy and Taw Major is "absolutely flying.''
The Goulburn trainer said: "Best Surprise had a seasonal spell and was sidelined for nearly four months.
"I just have not been able to get to Wenty on a Thursday night for the past few weeks but she won has won three in a row over 365m at Nowra, all in quick times.
"And box one on Thursday night is just perfect for her.''
Taw Major will be chasing his 14th Wentworth Park win in 32 appearances in Thursday's 520m third and fourth grade but Rowe conceded: "I think he is crying out for a bit longer than 520m these days.
"And while he is still going all right in a race like this I believe he would be better off from an inside draw rather than the extreme outside he has on Thursday.''
Wyndra All Heart, who finished seven lengths in front of Taw Major when he won at Wentworth Park last Saturday night, will be favourite to win again.
Wyndra All Heart had box three last Saturday but while he has drawn box seven on Thursday, the dog can handle outside draws, having won in slick times of 29.73 from box seven at Wentworth Park in April and in 29.82 from box eight there in January.
Best bet on Thursday should be Wyndra All Heart's kennelmate Sammy Ethan, who should have no trouble notching a remarkable 26th Wentworth Park win when he contests the second and third grade Masters race over 520m.
Boasting personal best figures of 29.41, Sammy Ethan is the quickest Wentworth Park performer in the field and from box one should put himself in a winning position at the first turn.
Little Vesper was backed from $2 to $1.50 when runner-up at her Wentworth Park debut last Saturday but is tipped to make amends in Thursday's WP Sports Bar 520m fifth grade.
Little Vesper collided with pacemaker Zipping Smee on the home turn on Saturday night and was beaten in a tight photo finish.
Andy Lord, whose wife Jodie trains Little Vesper, said: "She had clocked a smart 24.11 in a post-to-post hand-slip at Wenty before her race last Saturday.
"But she had not been out of the 520m boxes and we expect her to win on Thursday.''
Most interesting runner on Thursday is the Billy Dance-trained Gypsy Ibrox, making her Wentworth Park debut in the Wenty Leagues Stakes 520m fifth grade.
Gypsy Ibrox has won each of her two races, over 515m at The Gardens, by more than 14 lengths, and has been well schooled at Wentworth Park.
Although she has box seven on Thursday, Gypsy Ibrox is has not been a tenacious railer in each of her provincial wins so should handle her box seven draw comfortably.
"I gave Gypsy Ibrox five trials at Wentworth Park before she raced and she did not go all that flash, but at her latest run there she went terrific, and comfortably broke 18sec for the third split,'' trainer Billy Dance said.
"Box seven is never ideal but the draw should not worry her because when she jumps she always runs in a straight line to the first turn.''
