Master McGraw clocked a flying 29.44 winning at his Wentworth Park debut on April 5 but still produced arguably the run of his life to take out last Sunday's Chief Havoc Cup at Gunnedah.
In the 527m Cup final Master McGraw was hampered as he charged towards the rail from his box seven draw but still managed to come away and win by five lengths.
He returns to WP in Saturday night's Book Your Next Function 520m fifth grade and will be favourite after drawing ideally in box one.
"Yeah, his win at Gunnedah was pretty good because he got checked crossing to the inside and then easily beat a pretty handy field,'' trainer Jack Smith said.
Master McGraw's mission is the group one Vic Peters Classic, which gets under way at WP with heats on June 27 and a $100,000 to the winner final a week later.
The Vic Peters is restricted to dogs whelped on or after March 1, 2024, so Master McGraw, a March 26 whelping, will be among the oldest and most experienced runners.
His toughest rival on Saturday looms as the exciting All I See, owned by David Brasch and trained in Victoria by David Geall.
All I See has won five of eight starts and according to her trainer is well positioned near the fence in box two.
David Geall said: "She has not seen Wentworth Park, so I am using this as her trial for the group one Peter Mosman Opal heats at WP on June 27.
"But All I See has good habits, she usually steps out of the boxes in a hurry and is capable of posting brilliant early splits.
"She is desperate for the fence so box two is good.''
Geall, who won the group one Golden Easter Egg at WP with the great Up Hill Jill in 2018, is also "trialling" Sir Silvertree for the Vic Peters heats with a first NSW appearance in Saturday's WP Sports Bar 520m fifth grade.
Sir Silvertree has had seven wins and nine placings from 22 races and Geall said: "He has a real good turn of foot.
"He has posted near record early splits at Geelong but does tend to get a bit tired at the end of 520m.''
Best value at WP on Saturday could be Unleash In Miami, who has box five in the Wenty Leagues Stakes, a top grade 520m Masters event.
Unleash In Miami has won his past two races in this class and had no luck when sixth, beaten six lengths, in a fourth and fifth grade won by Sammy Ethan at WP on May 30.
That night Unleash In Miami, usually a reliable beginner, missed the jump from box seven and then was hampered at the first turn when the dog in box six drifted wide.
Trained by Ike McCorkindale at Young, Unleash In Miami has a good record while wearing the yellow rug, winning three of his five outings.
Money Keeping, who has been campaigning in Perth and finished fifth in a heat of the WA Oaks at Cannington on May 23, should relish a return to WP, her favourite track, in Saturday's ninth race, a 520m fifth grade.
She has won at three of her four WP appearances and raced wide in posting a personal best 29.45 from box seven on May 7.
Money Keeping tends to use plenty of the track so looks nicely positioned in box six on Saturday.
Woolgoolga has won only once in eight WP outings but seems placed to notch a second success after drawing box one in Saturday's opening event, the We Stand With Tasmania 520m fifth grade.
Woolgoolga should get plenty of room to move as Daisy's Charm, who has box two, gets wide and could hold up likely favourite, Foxy Barbella, who has box three, in the charge to the first corner.
