Central Coast trainer Noelene Holloway enjoyed group one glory at Wentworth Park when Magic Spring won the 2016 National Derby but she declared Fascinate Samuel the fastest dog she has raced after that greyhound won in 29.54 at headquarters on Saturday night.
Fascinate Samuel came from third early and second on the back straight to defeat Happy Ethics by a length with early leader Rise Up Nismo a neck award third.
After the race Holloway said: "Fascinate Samuel is definitely the fastest dog I've have had because he has gone as quick as 29.28 at Wentworth Park and Magic Spring could not run that sort of time.
"I only wish Fascinate Samuel was a brilliant beginner like Magic Spring was, because if he was a lid-pinger he could possibly break the Wentworth Park 520m record.''
Fascinate Samuel was a lucky acquisition for Holloway, who was gifted the dog from a Victorian trainer.
She explained: "I had three dogs being trained by a fellow in Victoria and tragically a fire ripped through his property.
"Several dogs died in the blaze, including my three, so the chap promised to send me two pups by Feral Franky from a bitch called Deep Dive as a replacement offer.
"Fascinate Samuel is one of the pups he sent me and he has now won nine from 33 starts.''
Electric Assent gave her owner, former NRL first grader Russell Hill and trainer Scott Morgan her first Wentworth Park win on Saturday night.
Electric Assent, who won twice over 388m at Gosford in June, led all the way to easily win a 520m fifth grade in 29.83, far and away her best Wentworth Park time.
After the race her Londonderry-based trainer Scott Morgan said: "Earlier in her career Electric Assent was leading but not getting to the line strongly.
"I had a blood count done on her and this revealed there was something amiss but since I have remedied that Electric Assent is going a lot better and finishing solidly.
"At the same time, she is still better when she is able to make the pace.''
Trainer Ken Burnett has long insisted his boom youngster Blue Storm is "crying out" for longer than 520m and that opinion seems borne out after the dog's remarkable fast finishing win in 30.00 at Wentworth Park on Saturday.
Blue Storm was sent out a hot favourite from box two but was beaten for early pace and at the half-way mark was fifth, giving the tearaway leader Screaming Violet between six and eight lengths' start.
Screaming Violet still led clearly on the home turn but Blue Storm, still fourth at that point, roared between rivals to win by a half length.
Although his winning time was a moderate 30.19, Dazzle You's effort to win a 520m fifth grade on Saturday was arguably the run of the meeting.
The Jodie Lord-trained dog began well from box six but veered hard left and collided heavily, then was badly checked at the first turn.
After being fourth on the back straight, Dazzle You finally found the fence and stormed home to win by three lengths.
The dog was having his first 520m test for three months, and after the race trainer Jodie Lord's husband Andy said: "Dazzle You developed a 'track' leg when last in work and had to have some time off.
"But he has come back great and is a truly tenacious chaser.''
Goulburn trainer Andrew Rowe landed a winning double on Saturday night with Winter Key in 29.78 in race one and her litter brother Taw Unbound in 29.71 in race nine.
Rowe's winners are offspring of the first litter from his bitch Summer Key, who was produced by his champion brood bitch Wayang Angel, the dam of his group race stars Taw Galaxy and Taw Major.
"This litter from Summer Key has just turned two and are only just starting to hit their straps,'' Rowe said.
"Come spring I think I am going to have a lot of fun with Taw Unbound, Winter Key and their siblings.''
My Pharaoh notched his 10th Wentworth Park win at his 50th appearance at the track on Saturday, clocking 29.97, while Mick Hardman's versatile sprinter and middle distance performer Paw Bostonia won the top grade 520m event in 29.69.
Easiest win of Saturday's meeting was Unleash In Miami's all-the-way five lengths' romp in 29.66 in a third and fourth grade.
It was Unleash In Miami's third win from his past four Wentworth Park starts for Riverina trainer Ike McCorkindale.
