The long road to the Million Dollar Chase begins at Nowra this Wednesday when the first regional round of the lucrative series gets underway.

THE chase for a life-changing million dollar pay day starts at Nowra on Wednesday.

From Wednesday's opening heats of the Million Dollar Chase at Nowra to the grand final, a farewell to Wentworth Park on October 16, the series winds its way around the state over the next two months.

With city racing to close at Wentworth Park on that final night, the line-up of glamour races is immense.

Highlighting the night, of course, is the prize every greyhound participant craves, the Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase (520m).

But, supporting that will be:

$30,000 MDChase Silver

$15,000 MDChase Bronze

$50,000 Masters Meteor

$50,000 Group 2 Sydney Cup

$15,000 MDChase Maiden

$30,000 Young Star

$10,000 Young Star Consolation

$6000 Nowra to Wenty Final

$6000 The Gardens to Wenty Final

Nowra-based Cumbria Kid went within a neck of winning the Million Dollar Chase when second to Jay Is Jay back in 2023.

He had finished only fourth in a Nowra regional heat for Steve Fitch, who also produced Eriza Sparkles to finish second to Power And Glory last year.

Nowra racing manager, Glenn Midson, said Nowra was usually one of the last tracks to host the Million Dollar Chase regional qualifiers.

"But, we are first cab off the rank this year," he said.

"Nowra dogs generally can go to Wentworth Park with ease and handle the track well.

"The build up to the final will be a great promotion considering it is the final year at Wentworth Park.

“Nowra is very proud to be a part of it.”

Premier trainers Minnie Finn, Fitch and Neil Staines have taken advantage of the early start to Nowra's regional heats with entries for Wednesday's heats.

The Million Dollar Chase then moves to Grafton on August 21, Wagga on August 22, Dubbo on August 27 and Goulburn August 28,

In September the series starts at: Taree (September 2), Temora (September 6), Maitland (September 7), Gunnedah (September 10), Richmond (September 11), Casino (September 17), The Gardens (September 19), Bulli (September 20) and Gosford (September 22).

Wentworth Park then hosts the city qualifiers on October 3 and semi-finals on October 9.

Last year's Nowra Regional Final went to superstar Jungle Johnny.
