Five members of former champion stayer and great brood bitch Poco Dorado's final litter will be back in action at Richmond on Wednesday after three of the quintet won at the Londonderry track on Sunday.

Owned by the D & P Syndicate and trained by Minnie Finn, the team behind Poco Dorado's phenomenal Flying Ricciardo litter, Wednesday's runners comprise Sunday's winners Back Tomorrow, Maybe Next Week and Before The Dawn, along with What's The Story and Dreams Come True.

An unexpected error occurred.

Poco Dorado's Flying Ricciardo litter, whelped in February, 2022, include Gets Late Early, who has earned nearly $384,000 and Both Bowers Ace, winner of nearly $214,000.

Gets Late Early, winning the NSW National Straight Track Championship last week.

"Since whelping this current litter by Shima Shine in January, 2024, Poco Dorado has died after being struck down with cancer,'' Minnie Finn said.

"Of these latest pups Back Tomorrow, who has had five wins and three placings from eight starts, has been the most successful."

An unexpected error occurred.

''Before The Dawn has won three from six with two placings and Maybe Next Week scored his first win in seven starts after five placings when he scored at Richmond last Sunday."

"What's The Story has been placed twice in six appearances but strangely enough, Dreams Come True, who broke in fastest of them all, has not yet been able to win in five starts."

"I will give them all a couple more short course races at Richmond and then take them to Wentworth Park and begin trialling them there."

"They give every indication they will be able to run the 520m trip at Wenty.''

An unexpected error occurred.

Billy Godden took out a trainer's licence just six months ago when he turned 18 but has hit the ground running by winning a double at Wentworth Park last Saturday night.

Godden, the son of well known greyhound racing identities Leanne and Tony Godden, is the owner-trainer of Trunkey Chief and that dog's litter brother Trunkey Shearer.

Trunkey Chief led all the way to win in a nippy 29.80 over 520m at Wentworth Park on Saturday and just over an hour later Trunkey Shearer came from fourth early to score in 29.85.

Godden's current involvement in the sport though could be short-lived according to his father, Tony Godden.

He said: "Billy is currently working part-time for another greyhound owner-breeder but his ambition is to join the Royal Australian Air Force.

"He has to have a fitness assessment next week and if he qualifies, he will be sent to Wagga Wagga to complete his initial training.

"After that the Air Force could send him anywhere in Australia, so he faces having a break from the dogs.

"He has always wanted to join the Air Force even though he has been rapt in greyhound racing since he was a toddler.

"For years now Billy has been hands-on with our team of greyhounds, assisting with their care, feeding and trialling.''
